“I suppose if I were to give out a message, it would be to do all that comes naturally to you. Contrary to popular opinion, being mediocre at lots of little things is just as good as excelling at one. Fuse your art, create your own style, one that you feel confident and empowered with. Most of all, my journey’s taught me that if you think your art makes a difference and should be out there, you owe it to yourself to put it out there.
I’m a survivor. That’s my superpower. I am also a supremely lazy person who is motivated by the simple things- the sleep I’ll get at the end of the day, and the adrenaline rush after a good performance. They’re both amazing motivators, really. When you combine all of those, you get someone who when decides to take up something, goes all-in and adapts to it fairly quickly. It’s how I’m able to play 9 instruments. It’s how I can shred on a Uke and serenade you on a guitar.
The one belief that I hold most sacred is that looking into the mirror and talking to yourself is the best thing that you could do for yourself. It is a strange sensation and often uncomfortable, but it does wonders for you if you let it. I’ve had covid twice and an anxiety attack a day since the pandemic started, and the only reason I’m still sane at this point - debatably so - is because I’ve spoken to the mirror every single day and allowed it to enable me to heal myself.
Oh, and yes - get therapy.”
