*Awareness Programmes on 100-Day Campaign of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Held at Block Kalakote*

Rajouri, May 13: Under the directions of District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Sh. Abhishek Sharma (IAS), Dr. Poonam Sethi, Director Health Services Jammu, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kalakote, Dr. Mohammad Tanwir (KAS), and Chief Medical Officer Rajouri, Dr. Manohar Rana, two separate awareness programmes under the 100-day campaign of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan were successfully conducted today in Block Kalakote of District Rajouri.

One programme was organized at CHC Kalakote, while the second programme was held at Panchayat Kharak. A large number of local residents and community representatives from different panchayats actively participated in the programmes.

During the programmes, a detailed lecture on the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of a drug-free society was delivered by Dr. Iqbal Malik, Block Medical Officer Kalakote, who is also holding the charge of the District Mental Health Programme. He highlighted the physical, psychological, social, and economic consequences of substance abuse and stressed the collective responsibility of society in protecting the younger generation from the menace of drugs.
Dr. Mohammad Tanwir, ADC Kalakote, also addressed the gathering and emphasized the need for collective efforts to eradicate drug abuse from society.

The programmes concluded with a pledge by the participants to support the vision of a drug-free society under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

During routine naka checking at SODA, a police party intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration No. JK11F-0942 loaded with bovine animals. On being signaled to stop, the driver sped away towards the link road leading to Gambhir Mogla. The police party immediately gave chase and pursued the vehicle for about one kilometre. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot, taking advantage of the terrain. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found loaded with 04 bovine animals, which were safely rescued and the vehicle was seized. In this regard a Case FIR No. 45/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Thanamandi.

In a separate naka checking operation at Salani Naka, police intercepted two vehicles involved in illegal transportation of bovine animals without valid permission. A Tata Mobile bearing registration No. JK12A-6953 was found loaded with 04 bovine animals, while an auto load carrier bearing registration No. JK11D-4737 was found carrying 02 bovine animals. All 06 bovine animals were rescued safely and both the vehicles were seized on the spot. In this connection, Case FIR Nos. 200/2026 and 202/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Rajouri. Total of 10 bovine animals have been rescued and 03 vehicles seized in these incidents Further investigation in all cases is underway to identify and apprehend the accused persons

RAJOURI, April 17 : Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Rural Jammu, Farooq Qaiser, on Friday addressed a press conference at the District Police Lines (DPL) Rajouri, unveiling a comprehensive traffic management plan for April 18, 2026, aimed at ensuring smooth vehicular movement and maintaining public order.
Addressing media persons, SSP Farooq Qaiser stated that strict restrictions have been imposed on Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs), which will not be allowed to enter key locations including Darhali Bridge, Khandli Bridge (Mehra Chowk side), Salani Bridge, Tariq Bridge, and the Old Bus Stand. He emphasized that the decision has been taken to decongest vital routes and facilitate seamless traffic flow during the day.
Highlighting the arrangements, he informed that strategic diversion points have been established at University Cut (near water point), Charlie TCP Kheora, T-Chowk Kheora, Bella Bridge, Panjachowk, and Sheema Crossing. Adequate deployment of traffic personnel will be ensured to regulate movement and assist commuters.
The SSP further announced strict no-parking zones along critical stretches, including Salani to Kachar Ground via Gujjar Mandi, Sheema Crossing to TCP Kheora, and Gujjar Mandi to Abdullah Bridge. These restrictions will come into force from 5:00 PM on April 17, and any violation will invite strict legal action.
For public convenience, designated parking areas have been earmarked, including Bella Bus Stand, Salani Bus Stand, and Kachar Ground Kheora (for LMVs only). Reserved parking has also been arranged at the Old Higher Secondary School Complex, Nursing College premises (for officers and staff), and FCI parking near Postal Colony (for dignitaries and officials), besides separate provisions for fire and emergency es**rt vehicles.
SSP Farooq Qaiser appealed to the general public, transporters, and commuters to strictly adhere to the traffic advisory and cooperate with the authorities, ensuring smooth ex*****on of the arrangements without any inconvenience.

Government Degree College Kalakote successfully organized a plantation drive in
coordination with the Jammu & Kashmir Forest Department under the esteemed guidance
of Principal Prof. Neeru Dhalla. The programme also aimed at creating awareness about drug
abuse and encouraging a responsible and healthy lifestyle among the youth.
The event witnessed the gracious presence of several distinguished dignitaries. Dr. Mohd
Tanveer, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kalakote, attended the programme and
highlighted the importance of such initiatives in spreading awareness about drug abuse. Sh.
Surinder Mohan, SDPO Kalakote, also graced the occasion and appreciated the college’s
efforts in promoting awareness and community participation. Sh. Mohd Rafi, Range Officer
Kalakote, from the Forest Department, played a key role in coordinating the plantation drive
and encouraged participants to take part in such meaningful programmes.
Faculty members, students, and officials from the Forest Department actively participated in
the drive by planting a variety of saplings within the college premises. The programme saw
enthusiastic involvement from all participants.
The plantation drive concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the support and
cooperation of all dignitaries, participants, and organizers who contributed to the success of
the event and helped against drug abuse.

*DDC Rajouri Reviews Aspirational Block Khawas, Seeks Improved Service Delivery Across Departments*

District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting at Dak Bungalow Rajouri to review the status and functioning of various departments in Aspirational Block Khawas.

During the review of the Health Department, the DDC assessed service delivery and stressed the need for strengthening primary healthcare facilities to ensure better outreach and quality services for the public.

While reviewing the Social Welfare Department, the DDC directed rationalisation of supervisors and emphasized capacity building of Anganwadi workers to improve the effectiveness of welfare schemes at the grassroots level.

The functioning of schools in the block was also reviewed in detail. The DDC directed rationalisation of staff and sought a comprehensive report on the reasons for poor academic performance of students. He further instructed the education authorities to submit detailed information regarding school dropouts and take corrective measures to improve retention and learning outcomes.
Reviewing the performance of banks, the DDC directed them to improve their functioning, particularly in expediting the sanctioning of loans to eligible beneficiaries to boost economic activities in the block.

The meeting also reviewed the functioning of the Telecom, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Departments, with emphasis on improving service delivery and ensuring better coordination among departments.

While reviewing the Rural Development Department (RDD), the DDC directed the concerned officers to ensure timely completion of all pending PMAY houses. He also reviewed the functioning of NRLM and directed officials to improve its implementation to enhance livelihood opportunities for self-help groups.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, Malikzada Sheraz ul Haq, PO ICDS, District Social Welfare Officer Harpal Singh, DSEO, Sandeep Sharma, ACD Auqil Naveed, CMO, Dr. Manohar Lal, BMOs, BDO Khawas, and other district and sectoral officers.
