India has uncovered a massive 7.23 million tonnes of rare earth element (REE) reserves, valued at an estimated $360 billion, across coastal and inland regions including Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Gujarat. With an additional 1.29 million tonnes in hard rock deposits, India’s total REE reserves reach 8.52 million tonnes.

These critical minerals, vital for electric vehicles, renewable energy, and defense technologies, position India as a potential global player. However, scaling up mining and processing remains a challenge, with India currently contributing less than 1% of global REE production.

Donald Trump claimed in Turnberry, Scotland, that Democrats, including James Comey, Merrick Garland, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, may have “planted” names in the Jeffrey Epstein files to discredit him. Labeling the files a “hoax,” Trump compared them to the discredited Steele dossier, suggesting political manipulation.

However, no evidence supports these allegations. The Epstein files, reviewed by the Justice Department, mention Trump alongside other high-profile figures but contain unverified hearsay with no indication of wrongdoing. Trump’s name appears due to his documented 15-year friendship with Epstein, which ended in the early 2000s. Flight logs and Epstein’s address book have long included Trump, among others, without implying criminality.

Critics argue that if Democrats controlled the files, they could have been released under Biden to harm Trump. The controversy underscores political divisions, with both sides exploiting the Epstein case for leverage, while investigations remain inconclusive.

The U.S. Coast Guard detected the Chinese research vessel Xue Long 2, an icebreaker operated by China’s Polar Research Institute, approximately 290 nautical miles north of Utqiagvik, Alaska, within the U.S. Extended Continental Shelf (ECS). The ECS extends beyond 200 nautical miles from the U.S. coast, where the U.S. has exclusive rights to manage and conserve living and non-living resources.

A Coast Guard C-130J Hercules aircraft from Air Station Kodiak responded to the vessel, which was about 130 nautical miles inside the ECS boundary. Rear Adm. Bob Little, Commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Arctic District, stated that the Coast Guard, alongside partners, monitors and responds to foreign vessel activity to secure U.S. territorial integrity and sovereign interests.

The Canadian military was also monitoring the Xue Long 2, noting it was not in Canadian territorial waters but was being tracked using a Lockheed CP-140 Aurora aircraft based in Alaska. This incident follows increased Chinese and Russian naval activity near Alaska, including joint patrols and previous encounters with Chinese military vessels in the U.S. Exclusive Economic Zone.

China has issued a bold appeal for a global alliance to develop and govern artificial “super intelligence,” aiming to cement its role at the forefront of international AI policy.

Speaking at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai on July 26, 2025, Premier Li Qiang proposed the formation of an international organization to coordinate AI collaboration, with a vision to bridge the widening divide in global AI governance.

Highlighting the fractured state of AI regulation and the dominance of a few tech powers, Li called for an open, inclusive approach—urging countries, especially from the Global South, to work together in sharing advancements and closing the technology gap.

China’s plan involves establishing a multilateral AI body and a global action plan to address regulatory, safety, and ethical challenges, as well as to promote fair access and “AI for good” initiatives globally. While the proposal received selective international support, U.S. officials voiced concerns about over-regulation in the sector.

On October 8, 2024, Geoffrey Hinton, dubbed the “Godfather of AI,” and John Hopfield were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for their groundbreaking work on artificial neural networks, the backbone of modern AI technologies like ChatGPT. Their discoveries, rooted in physics principles, have revolutionized fields from healthcare to facial recognition.

Hinton, 76, expressed shock at the honor but used the platform to issue a chilling warning about AI’s future. He compared its potential to the Industrial Revolution, predicting vast productivity gains, but cautioned that AI surpassing human intelligence could “get out of control,” posing a 20% risk of human extinction by 2054 if not managed.

Having left Google in 2023 to speak freely on AI risks, Hinton urged prioritizing safety research. He plans to donate his prize money to charities, including those supporting neurodiverse communities, emphasizing ethical responsibility.

At the AI Summit in Washington on July 23, 2025, President Donald Trump urged tech giants like Microsoft and Google to prioritize hiring American workers over outsourcing to India, claiming it undermines U.S. jobs.

He criticized the industry’s reliance on global talent, particularly Indian professionals who dominate H-1B visas (74% of approvals in 2024), and signed executive orders to boost domestic AI development.

Trump’s stance aligns with his “America First” policy but risks disrupting the tech sector, which depends on India’s cost-effective, skilled workforce in hubs like Bengaluru. Analysts warn that restricting global talent could weaken U.S. competitiveness, given the domestic STEM shortage.

Elon Musk’s xAI constructed the Colossus supercomputer, powered by 100,000 Nvidia H200 GPUs, in a record-breaking 19 days, a task Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang called “superhuman,” as it typically takes four years—three for planning and one for setup.

Huang lauded Musk and xAI’s team for their swift ex*****on, with the system already training AI models. Musk clarified the total project spanned 122 days, with 19 days for hardware installation to initial training.

Located in Memphis, Tennessee, Colossus aims to advance xAI’s Grok AI and is set to scale to 200,000 GPUs soon, reinforcing xAI’s mission to accelerate human scientific discovery through cutting-edge AI infrastructure.

Musk later admitted he resisted AI for too long but declared, “Now it’s game on,” signaling xAI’s aggressive push to advance AI-driven scientific discovery.

Scientists have discovered that Uranus, once thought to be a cold and inert ice giant, actually emits more internal heat than previously believed—about 12.5–15% more than it receives from the Sun.

This breakthrough shifts scientific understanding, prompting renewed calls for a dedicated mission to study Uranus’s mysterious internal structure and energy dynamics.

Future NASA missions are now likely to focus on deep atmospheric probes, advanced heat sensors, and long-term orbiters to investigate how Uranus generates heat and what this means for planetary evolution in our solar system and beyond, with important parallels for exoplanet and climate modeling.

In the stillness of the ocean,
An American photographer captured a gaze that few ever witness—
the quiet, soulful eye of a whale.

No words. Just presence. Just awe.

Reflecting on that sacred moment, Rachel shared:
“Many come seeking to be seen by whales…
But few truly see them.
To witness without intrusion—
That is the real gift.”

This fleeting exchange—eye to eye, soul to soul—
became the most profoundly beautiful moment of her life.
A dream, lived.

Her lens reminds us:
Some connections need no words.
Only respect, reverence, and stillness.
