Iconic BBS Tower, also known as Sangaygang. Located at an elevation of 2,685 metres, this hilltop viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Thimphu Valley. The tower itself belongs to Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS), which operates the country’s radio and television networks.

How to get here?

Sangaygang is just a 30-minute drive from Thimphu town, with well-maintained motor road access. Visitors can take a bus or hire a taxi to reach the tower.

For a perfect day in Bhutan’s capital, make sure to include Sangaygang in your itinerary and experience its stunning views

Our Bhutan journey ended at one of the world’s most dramatic airports ✈️ — nestled in a deep valley and surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks.

Only a handful of specially trained pilots are certified to land here, making it both thrilling and unique.

From Paro, we proceeded towards Siliguri for an overnight stay before catching our return flight the next day from Bagdogra Airport.

Bhutan Diaries 🇧🇹 | Day 5 – Tiger’s Nest Trek (Paro Taktsang Monastery)

One of the most iconic experiences in Bhutan!

We started the Tiger’s Nest Trek – a ~6 km round trip in Paro that took us about 5–6 hours (up & down). The trail is steep but rewarding, with every step offering breathtaking mountain views.

About Tiger’s Nest (Paro Taktsang):
Built in 1692, the monastery clings dramatically to a cliffside, ~3,000 ft above Paro valley. Legend says Guru Padmasambhava (who introduced Buddhism to Bhutan) flew here on the back of a tigress, meditated in a cave, and subdued evil spirits — hence the name Tiger’s Nest. 🐅🙏

💡 Useful Info for Travelers:
• Entry fee: ₹1000 per person (only if you want to enter inside the monastery).
• If you just want to trek up, click pictures, and enjoy the view, no ticket needed.
• Carry water, good walking shoes, and pace yourself — the trek is moderately challenging but absolutely worth it.

This trek is not just about reaching the monastery, it’s about the journey, the silence of the forests, and the sense of spirituality that grows stronger with every step.

• Simply Bhutan: an interactive museum that beautifully showcases Bhutanese culture & traditions 🏡
• Mini Zoo: met Bhutan’s national animal, the unique Takin 🦌
• Handicraft Emporium & Paper Factory: glimpses of Bhutanese artistry & craftsmanship

Later, transferred to Paro for an overnight stay 🏔️

Bhutan continues to mesmerize with its blend of culture, spirituality, and stunning landscapes
