A 71-year-old man was dragged on the streets of Bengaluru for more than 200 meters on Tuesday as he firmly held onto a scooter driven by a youth attempting to escape after allegedly crashing into the former’s car.

The youth, identified as 25-year-old Sahil, allegedly crashed into Mutthappa’s SUV from behind at Magadi Road, and when he attempted to question the former, he tried to escape.

The youth was finally stopped by passing vehicles. “He was arrogant, did not stop after hitting my Bolero from behind, and tried to flee away. So I did not want to leave him. He tried his best to escape and wanted me to leave his scooter, he rode the vehicle like a snake. Couple of youngsters followed and tried to attack and stop him. Finally, a couple of auto drivers and bikers managed to stop him and caught hold of him,” Muthappa

Daughter of Rewa: For the first time, Indian woman fighter pilot to lead air exercise with Japan

The country's first woman fighter pilot is set to be a part of the Indian contingent that will feature in aerial wargames with Japan. Sukhoi-30MKI Squadron Leader Avni Chaturvedi will leave for Japan shortly to participate in the aerial wargames. This will be the first instance of a woman air warrior leading an Indian fighter sqaudron on foreign soil.

Squadron Leader Chaturvedi, who became the first woman to fly a MiG-21 `Bison’ solo in February 2018, is part of the IAF contingent headed for Japan for the `Veer Guardian’ exercise from January 12 to 26 at the Hyakuri airbase, an IAF officer said on Saturday.

Squadron Leader Chaturvedi, who grew up in a small town near Rewa in Madhya Pradesh and then did a B.Tech in computer science from Jaipur, was among first three women to be commissioned into the IAF fighter stream after basic training in June 2016. It shattered the deep-rooted combat-exclusion policy for their gender in the Indian armed forces.
