Thrilled to share the launch of the 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 Programme at Manipur University, a FactShala Media Literacy Hub.

Natasha Elangbam a certified FactShala trainer hosted a 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝘅 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 workshop for the students at the campus.
This workshop will help the youth in by increasing awareness of misinformation on digital platforms and teaching them how to identify. FactShala-trained individuals are more capable of protecting themselves from the negative impacts of inaccurate online information.

This is the first step as well prepare to roll this programme in 50 colleges across India, by establishing FactShala Media Literacy Hubs. These hubs will empower students with critical information analysis skills, promoting informed decision-making and responsible information-sharing.

Starting 1st of January 2025, we welcomed 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝗮, a whole new generation of babies who will live in a world dominated by and and will witness many technological advancements. As technology & digital platforms are expected to evolve, it becomes even more imperative to create a practice of informed information sharing and ethical use of technology.

FactShala is committed to fostering a culture of informed citizenship across India by empowering individuals with the tools they need to critically assess information sources. The ongoing efforts in 2024 were focused on inclusivity, community engagement, and sustained education in media literacy. We have set a stage to create increased awareness of misinformation and improved critical thinking skills regarding online content. The organization aims to continue this momentum in 2025 by expanding its reach and adapting its training methods to address emerging challenges in digital literacy.

FactShala is an initiative run by DataLeads & supported by the Google News Initiative. In collaboration with MediaWise, we have successfully run the . FactShala ambassadors Ritu Kapur, Shekhar Gupta, Jayant Mammen Mathew & Faye D'Souza have played a crucial role in promoting media literacy and critical thinking across India, by developing multiple language video series on their social media platforms.

As we move forward we have laid the foundation for the programme where we will be establishing 50 media literacy Hubs across esteemed colleges across India.
