Five officers were trying to clear a crowdโฆ then a car came straight toward them.
A chaotic late-night gathering on Chicagoโs Near West Side turned into a major crime investigation after five Chicago police officers were struck by a car near Roosevelt and Loomis.
According to reports, officers were dispersing a large crowd described as an after-prom gathering or teen takeover when a blue car allegedly drove into the officers. Police say the car then struck a squad car, a pole, and a fence before stopping.
An 18-year-old, Rashad Johnson, was taken into custody at the scene. Police also said a gun was recovered from the car. He is now facing serious charges, including attempted murder.
All five officers were hospitalized, but reports say they are expected to recover.
Now the question is bigger than one crashโฆ
