In the Sri Venkatesh Suprabhatam, the Goddess Lakshmi, divine consort, of Sri Vishnu, is urged to be the path for his devotees to be able to fearlessly and lovingly worship the lord so he wakes up. It’s beautiful how the verses pray the Mother to pave the way for Sri Vishnu to become a Mother.

For long I have gazed at this image and a recent reading of the verses led me to imagine that this is how Goddess Lakshmi might be looking at the devotees . This collaboration with was a blessing in the form of images that can be interpreted in such diverse ways.

One of the most important experiences of the shoot was ‘s interpretation of my concept of The Navrasa’s . Her enquiry of the idea during our conversations made me dive deeper into the concept and search within. On the shoot day, Pooja’s preparation was immaculate starting from her attire, makeup and mood. As we progressed taking pictures, she moved effortlessly from one idea to another, making this an education for me.

On a different note, this picture seems so apt for the times we live in. We need a divine intervention to cull all the dastardly that surrounds us. Be it in our personal lives, our professional ecosystems or the world in general. Pooja for me here embodies that intervention.
