Mars has a thin atmosphere made up mostly of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and argon gases. To our eyes, the sky would be hazy and red because of suspended dust instead of the familiar blue tint we see on Earth. The temperature on Mars can be as high as 70 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius) or as low as about -225 degrees Fahrenheit (-153 degrees Celsius). And because the atmosphere is so thin, heat from the Sun easily escapes this planet. If you were to stand on the surface of Mars on the equator at noon, it would feel like spring at your feet (75 degrees Fahrenheit or 24 degrees Celsius) and winter at your head (32 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 degrees Celsius).

An earthquake is a natural disaster characterized by a sudden shaking of the Earth's surface. This shaking is caused by the movement of tectonic plates beneath the Earth's crust. When these plates grind or collide against each other, they release energy in the form of seismic waves, leading to an earthquake. The intensity of an earthquake is measured on the Richter scale, with magnitudes ranging from minor quakes that cause little damage to major ones that can devastate entire regions. Earthquakes can trigger secondary disasters like tsunamis, landslides, and building collapses. Common signs of an impending earthquake include slight tremors and unusual animal behavior. During an earthquake, it's crucial to drop, cover, and hold on to protect oneself from falling debris. After the shaking stops, it's important to check for injuries, evacuate if necessary, and avoid entering damaged buildings.

NASA and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) are targeting March 2025 to launch a powerful Earth-observing satellite.

The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) will scan nearly all of Earth's land and ice surfaces twice every 12 days to measure changes in the planet's ecosystems, land and sea ice, and solid Earth.

Observations from NISAR will benefit humanity by helping researchers around the world better understand changes in the planet's surface, including its ice sheets, glaciers, and sea ice, Earth's forest and wetland ecosystems as well as the movement and deformation of the planet's crust such as earthquakes, landslides, and volcanic activity.

🐟 Male seahorses have a unique pouch on the ventral, or front-facing, side of their tail. During mating, the female seahorse deposits up to 1,500 eggs into this pouch. Over the next 9-45 days, the male seahorse nurtures and protects the eggs until the baby seahorses are ready to emerge. 🌊✨
