Dr. Dinesh Kumar, is Principal Scientist (Horticulture) in Post Harvest Technology at National Research Centre for Citrus, Nagpur. He obtained his Doctorate in horticulture with specialization in pomology from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He joined Indian Council of Agricultural Research, at National Research Centre for Medicinal Plants, Anand, Gujarat in February 1997. He is having 16 years of experience in Research, Development and Extension under ICAR. His Significant research contribution was on safe storage of Safed musli roots by irradiation, with safe storage media. He has contributed in enhancing shelf life of fresh fruits by using Non-hazardous and eco-friendly technologies, like wet heat treatment (WHT), plant and crustacean’s protein based coatings. His innovative contribution is in Nanotechnology as nanocomposite packaging for storage of Nagpur mandarin segments and juice. Selected for the award of Fellowship of Confederation of Horticulture Association of India (CHAI). Delivered lectures at 29 symposium and seminars of National and International repute. He is having 6 best poster awards and has published 45 research papers in International and National journals. He has also contributed for book chapters, Bulletin and manual for Post Harvest Technology. Recently attended advanced training under NAIP in the area “Biomolecules” in Horticulture, for three months at Phytochemistry Lab, Department of Food Science & Technology, CEBAS-CSIC, Campus Universitario De Espinardo, Murcia, SPAIN.
