Calling it a “black day for democracy in India”, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said the Government of NCT of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, was an attempt by the BJP to “sn**ch governance” through the “chor darwaza”.

In a video address soon after Rajya Sabha passed the Bill, Kejriwal also accused the BJP of “backstabbing the people of Delhi”, saying Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised statehood for Delhi in a pre-poll speech in 2014.

Among those batting for legal recognition for same-sex marriages during the hearing in the Supreme Court in May was a bunch of students of a Delhi school who wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of India in this regard.

Delhi University’s Political Science department has reinstated the “Gandhi and the Contemporary World” paper in the revised syllabus of semester IV, The Indian Express has learnt.

Beneficiaries seeking an Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) certificate no longer have to make rounds of government offices to get the job done-- Delhi government has launched a provision for them on the e-district portal.

With this, people coming under the EWS category can apply for the ‘Income and Assets Certificate for Economically Weaker Section’ on the portal and receive the certificate online.
