In a thriller climax to the final Test at The Oval, India edged out England by just 6 runs to seal a dramatic win on Day 5 and level the five-match series 2-2. With England needing only 7 more runs and India one wicket, tension peaked as Chris Woakes, nursing a dislocated shoulder, walked out to bat in a last-ditch effort to rescue the hosts.

India’s comeback was triggered by relentless pace spells from Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna. Siraj struck early in the morning, dismissing overnight batters Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton in quick succession, sending jitters through the English dressing room.

It has been three decades since the slaughter of men and boys in the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica, but every year more bodies are found and reburied, and every year the survivors – mostly women – return to commemorate their fathers and brothers, husbands and sons.

More than 8,000 men and boys, mostly Muslim, were chased through woods in and around Srebrenica by Serb troops in what is considered the worst carnage of civilians in Europe since World War II. The slaughter has been classified as an act of genocide.

Iran’s National Security Council confirmed having targeted the base “in response to the US aggressive and insolent action against Iran’s nuclear sites and facilities”.

In its statement, the council said the number of missiles used “was the same as the number of bombs that the US had used”, in a signal that it had calibrated its response to be directly proportional.

Iran has carried out a barrage of missile attacks against Israel, hours after the United States attacked key Iranian nuclear sites. Loud explosions were heard in coastal hub Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on Sunday shortly after the Israeli military reported incoming Iranian missiles and activated air defences. Sirens rang in Israeli cities, with rescue services and media reports saying at least 20 people were injured.

President Trump, speaking to the US media late Saturday, called the strikes “a spectacular military success” and said Iran’s nuclear sites were “completely and totally obliterated.” Trump had ordered the attack abruptly, hoping it would catch Tehran off guard.
The sites attacked—Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan—represent the core of the Iranian nuclear infrastructure.

The U.S. bombers that attacked the nuclear sites dropped bunker-busting bombs called GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators for the first time in warfare.

It is unclear yet what damage the US attack has had on the nuclear facilities, or whether there are any injuries or casualties. The Iranian Atomic Energy Organization said the bombing of the three nuclear sites was a “barbaric violation” of international law.

The deputy political director of Iran’s state broadcaster, Hassan Abedini, said Iran had evacuated these three nuclear sites a “while ago”. Appearing on state-run TV, he said Iran “didn’t suffer a major blow because the materials had already been taken out”.

English is “empowering” not “shameful” and must be taught to every child, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Friday and alleged that the BJP-RSS don’t want poor children to learn this language because they don’t want them to ask questions and attain equality. Gandhi’s comments came a day after Home Minister Amit Shah’s reported remarks on English.
