The PM of , on 15th August 2014, during his first Independence Day speech ever as PM, gave five unusual messages for his countrymen. He spoke . He offered advice to parents to bring up better sons. Modi appealed to stop killing the girl child. He busted the myth about India being a land of snake charmers and naked fakirs. has following on Twitter and Facebook and utilises these platforms to connect. He spoke about 'Digital India'. The Indian PM expressed concern about the all pervading filth and open defecation. He mentioned about his own poverty. Pakistan found no mention. Nepal Did! :-) He exhorted the youth to pledge for peace.

"In every home, parents ask daughters lots of questions as to where she is going, when will she return, and ask her to inform them when she reaches her destination.
"But have you ever asked your son where he is going, why is he going and who are his friends? After all, the person committing the r**e is also someone's son," the prime minister said, advising parents to keep tabs on their sons. .."
