The gap between the first and second doses of the Covishield COVID-19 vaccine can be increased to 12-16 weeks - from the existing six-eight weeks - the centre said Thursday evening. No changes have been announced in dosage intervals for Covaxin, which remains at four to six weeks.

The recommended interval changes were accepted Wednesday by the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration and by the Union Health Ministry today.

Covaxin maker Bharat Biotech has refused to supply doses to Delhi "under instructions" from the central government, Deputy
Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged today, accusing the Centre of controlling the supply of Covid shots and of "vaccine
mismanagement". The company said it was "disheartening" that some states were complaining about its intentions.
Bharat Biotech has said it will not be able to supply vaccines to the capital citing directives of the government and limited availability, Mr Sisodia said at a digital press meet."The Covaxin manufacturer has, in a letter, said it cannot provide Delhi government vaccines due to unavailability, under instructions of the concerned government official. It means that the central government is controlling the supply of the vaccine," he said.

A doctor couple in Mumbai is collecting medicines from those who have recovered from COVID-19 and providing them to needy patients. On May 1, Dr Marcus Ranney and his wife Dr Raina started Meds For More - a citizen initiative to collect unused medicines from Covid recovered patients.
"We started this initiative 10 days ago. We collect medicines from housing societies and provide them to those who can not afford them," Dr Marcus Ranney told ANI.
"The idea came when one of the family members of our staff got infected from Covid and they needed medication. As you know the medicines can be expensive. At that time there were a few people who had recovered from Covid, so we decided to take their medicines and donate them," said Dr Raina.
