Anantnag Police Seizes Tractor Carrying Illegal Mining Material; FIR Registered

Anantnag, April 15:

Continuing its drive against illegal mining activities, Anantnag Police during routine naka checking at Chattergul intercepted a tractor with trolley bearing registration number JK04H-3023. The vehicle, driven by Mushtaq Ahmed Malik, son of Nazir Ahmad Malik, resident of Chattergul, was found transporting illegally extracted mining material (Nallah boulders) without proper authorization.

Acting promptly, the police seized the vehicle and registered an FIR vide No. 38/2026 under relevant sections of law at the concerned police station. Further investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment to curb illegal mining and urges the public to cooperate and report any such unlawful activities to the nearest police establishment.

Anantnag Police Continue Crackdown on Drug Trafficking; 5 Cases Registered, 4 Arrested; Above 7.340 Kgs of Contraband Recovered

Anantnag, April 15, 2026:

Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police achieved significant success in multiple operations across the district, leading to recovery of substantial quantities of contraband substances and arrest of involved individuals.

Police Station Srigufwara, acting on specific information, conducted a raid at the residence of Naseer Ahmad of Shirhama and recovered 6.614 kgs of Charas. The accused was not present at the spot. A case has been registered and efforts are underway to apprehend him.

In another incident, a police party from PS Larnoo, during routine naka checking established for tourist security at Bidhad Bridge, apprehended Ab Hameed Sheikh S/o Gh Rasool Sheikh R/o Sheikh Mohalla Vailoo Devalgam. During search, 32 grams of Charas were recovered from his possession. A case has been registered and investigation has been initiated.

Similarly, a naka established by PC Pahalgam at Wullarhama on the Bijbehara–Pahalgam road led to the apprehension of one biker identified as Danish Ahmad Kumar S/o Gull Mohammad Kumar R/o Kralpora Kullar. During frisking, approximately 100 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. A case has been registered and further investigation is in progress.

In another operation, a police party from Police Post Sangam, during naka checking at Panjpora, intercepted a WagonR bearing registration number DL8CR 0936 and apprehended one person identified as Taseen Ramzan Bhat S/O Mohd Ramzan Bhat R/O Batpora Marhama. During checking, 32 grams of charas (stick form) and 292 grams of charas powder were recovered from his possession. In this regard, FIR No. 92/2026 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered and investigation has been taken up.

In a further action, one person namely Feroz Ahmad Mundu S/o Habibullah Mundu R/O Nattipora Sangam, a daily wager employee in PDD Department, was apprehended at Halmulla. During search, approximately 270 grams of charas powder was recovered from his possession. A case has been registered and investigation has been initiated.

Anantnag Police reiterates its firm commitment to eradicate the drug menace and urges the general public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug peddling or illegal activities.

SSP Anantnag Inspects PS Mattan; Reviews Training of PSIs

Anantnag, April 14, 2026:

SSP Anantnag, Shri Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS, today conducted an inspection of Police Station Mattan to assess the functioning, preparedness, and overall law & order management.
During the visit, the SSP thoroughly inspected various sections of the police station including the Malkhana, record room, lock-up, and other operational units. He emphasized the importance of maintaining proper documentation, cleanliness, and adherence to prescribed procedures.

SSP also reviewed the training of Probationary Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) presently undergoing field training. He interacted with the trainees and stressed upon the need for professionalism, discipline, and a people-friendly approach in policing. He highlighted the importance of acquiring practical skills, legal knowledge, and effective investigation techniques to ensure quality policing.

While addressing the officers and staff, SSP Anantnag underscored the significance of public service, accountability, and prompt grievance redressal. He directed the officers to remain vigilant and responsive to public concerns, and to strengthen community policing initiatives.
The visit concluded with directions for further improving efficiency, coordination, and overall policing standards in the jurisdiction.

Narcotic Crackdown: Anantnag Police Smash Drug Ring, 2 Held

Anantnag; 12 April 2026

Continuing its drive against drug menace, Anantnag Police apprehended two Drug peddlers in separate operations and recovered significant quantities of narcotic substances.

A police party from PS Bijbehara, during naka checking at Gurpora, apprehended Sahil Ahmad Khooru of Urhanhall after he attempted to flee. Upon search, 780 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.

In another operation, PS Srigufwara, acting on specific information, conducted a search at the cowshed of Mohd Yaqoob Khan of Village Liver, leading to the recovery of approximately 06 kilograms of g***a. However accused was not present at home efforts are on to nab the culprit.

Moreover during naka checking at Waghama, PS Bijbehara apprehended Aijaz Ahmad Mantoo of Waghama and recovered 488 grams of charas-like substance from his possession. In this connection, FIR No. 88/2026 has been registered.

Anantnag Police have urged the public to assist in eliminating the drug menace by sharing information with law enforcement agencies.

Anantnag Police Seizes Three Tractors for Illegal Mining in Kokernag

Anantnag, April 11, 2026:
In its continued drive against illegal mining activities, Anantnag Police today seized three tractors involved in unlawful extraction in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kokernag.

During three separate incidents, police teams acted swiftly to curb illegal mining operations and seized the vehicles on the spot. In this regard, FIR Nos. 20/2026, 21/2026, and 22/2026 have been registered, and further investigation is underway.

Anantnag Police reiterates its commitment to protecting natural resources and urges the public to cooperate in reporting any instances of illegal mining.
