The 2 phases -- 10 years apart -- of difference in crude oil v/s Indian fuel prices demonstrate the evolving relationship between government and citizens.

1. *2020-2021* : When the crude oil price was at its LOWEST in 20 years ($63.4), yet there wasn't any significant drop in the fuel prices (Petrol @ Rs 90.6 & Diesel @ Rs 80.9). Notably, it was also the time of Covid19, when people were also financially hit by the pandemic lock-down!

2. *2011-12* : When the crude oil price was at its HIGHEST in 20 years ($118), and the petrol (in Delhi) costed Rs 65.6 and diesel at Rs 40.9, i.e. almost half of today!!!!!

आपको जानके हैरानी होगी की देश में पहली बार 2022-2023 & 2023-24 में आम जानता से लिए जाने वाले इनकम टैक्स से जमा राशि उद्योगपतियों से लिए जाने वाले कॉर्पोरेट टैक्स से ज़्यादा रही है। यानी आम जनता बड़ी बड़ी कंपनियों से ज़्यादा टैक्स दे रही है!

At current price of crude oil at ~US$60, petrol is at ₹95 & diesel at ₹88.

⛽When crude oil cost was same in 2015, petrol was at ₹60.5 & diesel at ₹49.7.
⛽When crude oil cost was at its peak in 2011 at $118.64, petrol costed ₹58.37 & diesel at ₹37.75.

Government's revenue collection from taxes on fuel, income tax, GST etc increase every year -- but how is the public benefitting from it??! 🤷‍♀️🥺
