India-Belgium Defence Ties Get a Major Boost!

India and Belgium have strengthened their defence partnership with 10 new defence agreements covering rockets, military hardware, ammunition, naval mine-countermeasure systems, tank turrets and counter-drone technologies.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also raised India's security concerns over the transfer of sensitive defence technology to Pakistan. Belgian Defence Minister Theo Francken assured India that Belgium would not cooperate with Pakistan on sensitive defence technology.

₹2,077 Crore Highway Project to Strengthen the Strategic Siliguri Corridor

India has approved a ₹2,077.18 crore project to four-lane a 31.02-km stretch of NH-327 between Bagdogra and Galgalia in West Bengal-a strategically important route linked to the Siliguri Corridor, or “Chicken’s Neck.”

The project will include major bridges, a road overbridge, elephant underpasses and service roads, improving connectivity across North Bengal and strengthening access towards India’s Northeast.

Beyond transportation, the project has important strategic and security implications for one of India's most critical land corridors connecting the Northeast with the rest of the country.

Russia & India ‘On the Same Page’ on Ukraine Peace

Russia and India are aligned on the need for peace and dialogue to resolve the Ukraine conflict, Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov has said.

Thales and Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), the defence arm of Bharat Forge, have signed a Strategic Alliance Agreement to establish an advanced industrial capability for 70-mm rocket systems in India. The partnership will cover both unguided and laser-guided rocket variants, combining Thales’ proven technology with KSSL’s manufacturing, integration and testing capabilities.

The collaboration is aimed at strengthening India’s indigenous defence ecosystem, supporting the Make in India for the World vision, and creating opportunities to serve both Indian and global requirements. The first fully assembled rocket produced in India is targeted for early 2027.
