SHASHI: Forged in Fire.

The design of Mr. Bajaj’s biography was born from the story itself.

A life marked by struggle, darkness and betrayal called for a visual language that could hold its weight. We worked with a darker palette, raw textures, sketches and line art—elements that felt imperfect, almost weathered.

And then there was fire. An important metaphor throughout Shashi ji’s journey, it found its way into the book through burn marks, textured details and visual interruptions. For example, when we used different shades a metal heated through fire as the chapters progressed.

We also deliberately created pauses—breathers within the layouts, moments of stillness within chapters, allowing the reader to stop, absorb and continue.

For us, designing a biography is about more than making a book look beautiful. It is also about finding a visual language that feels true to the life inside it.

In Quiet Pursuit || एक सहज साधना 📖

The story of Dr. Surendra Bhandari is one of curiosity, discipline and a lifelong pursuit of knowledge. He has been a physicist and scientist by profession, and thus we wanted the book to carry that spirit within its design. 📚

Inspired by the visual language of a scientific journal, the typography, grids, details and understated visual elements were thoughtfully designed as an extension of his personality!

A book where the design, much like his life, is precise, considered and inquisitive ✨

A Kagaz biography takes almost a year to make.
A lot happens in that year.
Interviews.
Writing.
Rewriting.
Designing.
Revisiting memories.
And a whole lot of care.
This little film is just an afterthought—a glimpse of what happens when we begin working on a book.
And every single time, we discover the same thing:
The stories we hear are often far more unbelievable than fiction.

After 12+ years of writing biographies, we found ourselves at the Bloomsbury office.
Walking through a space filled with books I've admired for years was certainly special. But what stayed with me wasn't the office or the shelves—it was the people.
Publishing isn't just about producing books. It's about recognizing potential in a story long before the rest of the world does, and having the conviction to stand behind it.
Every book that goes on to leave a mark has people who chose to believe in it first.
It was a thoughtful reminder that great stories are written by authors, but they're often made possible by those who champion them.

How often do we get to say that we helped bring someone’s lifelong dream to life?

Last month, we launched THE MOSAIC OF LIFE: Every Piece A Story, Every Story A Lesson - the biography of Pushpraj ji Maheswari.

At 82, he continues to inspire us with his energy, discipline, and openness to growing. Deeply guided by the teachings of the Bhagwad Gita, he lives with grace, and a remarkable willingness to learning new things - even through the challenges of technology.

Meeting him and spending a few days with him gave us a deeper insight into his journey. A journey of hardship, displacement, rebuilding, and resilience. But above all, it is the story of a man who chose dignity over bitterness, courage over defeat, and hope over and over again.

In the process of telling his story, we found ourselves learning from it too. We extend our heartfelt thanks to him and the entire Maheswari family for trusting us to document his legacy for the future generations. ✨🤍

2026, so far. ⏳

New journeys. New families. New stories finding their way to paper.

A lot has been going on these past six months: new beginnings, reunions with old clients, a very special book release, shooting our very first client documentary film. We travelled far and wide across cities and geographies. Thank you to our clients for their trust and commitment to us.

And as the year unfolds, we’re filled with gratitude and excitement to share all that we’ve been working on.
