The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has started converting its ageing Shivshahi AC buses into regular semi-luxury, non-AC buses.

In Pune division alone, 74 such buses are undergoing transformation into the pink-and-white format of MSRTC’s ‘Hirkani’ fleet. All 74 buses are expected to be revamped over the next 5–6 months.

This move is part of MSRTC’s broader strategy to modernise its fleet by making better use of ageing assets while maintaining service levels during its rapid transition to electric buses.

Tamil Nadu has inaugurated its first and largest fully air-conditioned integrated bus terminus at Panjapur in Trichy, marking a transformative leap in regional public transport.

Named the Muthamizh Arignar Dr Kalaignar Karunanidhi Integrated Bus Terminus, the two-tiered facility spans 40 acres and can handle over 3,200 buses daily.

Inter-district buses operate from the ground floor, while city buses run from the upper level, across 401 bus bays.

Equipped with elevators, gender-inclusive restrooms, 21 shower rooms, commercial outlets, and air-conditioned retail zones, the terminus raises the bar for commuter comfort.

A 9.8-km link road is also being built to improve access from the city centre, with phase one already allocated ₹81.7 crore.

The new facility replaces the old Central Bus Stand (1972), which will now be redeveloped into a commercial complex.

Tata Motors has commenced deliveries of 148 new Starbus electric buses to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), further accelerating the city’s transition to clean public transportation.

The new induction builds on Tata’s existing fleet of 921 electric buses already operational in Bengaluru, known for their high uptime and commuter satisfaction.

The buses will be operated and maintained by TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd. under a long-term 12-year contract.
