Amid rising outrage over unsafe and illegally modified sleeper buses, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has issued a stern warning.

Speaking to News18, he said the newly amended AIS 153 bus code will help prevent fire incidents and ensure safer travel across India.

And his message to violators is crystal clear — anyone operating or modifying buses against the code will face jail time.

IntrCity SmartBus has raised ₹250 cr in a Series D funding round led by A91 Partners, at a post-money valuation of around ₹1,200 cr.

The company plans to double its fleet, enhance its fleet management technology, and expand services across Tier II and III cities.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has called for central intervention over the poor performance of BMTC’s leased e-buses.

BMTC's electric fleet has faced frequent breakdowns, understaffing, driver strikes, and over ₹25 crore in penalties.

In contrast, BMTC's diesel buses continue to outperform e-buses, with fewer breakdowns, accidents, and downtime.

Smit Shrivastava, an MG Windsor EV Pro owner, set out on a road trip from Raipur to Seoni, excited, confident, and fully charged.

But midway through the journey, things took a frustrating turn.
He stopped at six highway charging stations, and not one worked. Some had no power, others were offline, and a few showed “network error.”

As his battery level dropped, Smit tried every helpline and app showing chargers as “available,” but help never came. Finally, stranded and exhausted, he left his EV at a dead charger and took a bus to complete his trip.

Later, he took to the EV Owners Group India on Facebook to share his story, calling it the most frustrating road trip of his life.
