BMTC has finally launched new electric, air-conditioned buses from Kempegowda International Airport.

A total of 320 electric buses are being procured, including 235 for Vajra city services and 85 for Vayu Vajra airport routes.

In the first phase, 10 electric Vayu Vajra buses will hit the roads starting August 14, covering 11 key routes that connect various parts of Bengaluru to the airport.

These buses are designed for passenger comfort and safety, featuring:
✅ 35 high-back reclining seats
✅ Wheelchair accessibility
✅ USB charging ports
✅ CCTV cameras
✅ Panic buttons
✅ Kneeling mechanism for easy boarding
✅ Voice-enabled LED destination boards

In a major public transport upgrade, Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) has announced 288 new buses across 34 depots, with Jaipur’s Vaishali Nagar, Vidhyadhar Nagar, and Jaipur depots together receiving 82. Part of the government’s budget plan, these additions aim to ease travel between rural and urban areas.

Each bus will be equipped with GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, and improved seating with enhanced ventilation. A special safety feature, a panic button, will be installed on every woman's seat, allowing female passengers to alert authorities in emergencies. This move follows the earlier launch of 12 Volvo buses, bringing the year’s total fleet expansion to 300.

The fund remains capped, with allocations on a first-come, first-served basis—meaning the scheme could shut early if funds are exhausted before the new end date.

The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Thane has ordered BEST to shell out ₹16.44 lakh to Aishwarya Subhash Vanjare, who was just 17 when a speeding bus crushed her thigh in Santacruz (W) in July 2018. Hospitalised for nearly two months, her treatment cost over ₹8 lakh.

The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal found the bus driver guilty of rash driving and fixed her functional disability at 25%. BEST skipped all tribunal proceedings, forcing the case to move ahead without its input and be settled solely on the evidence presented.

The payout covers medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering, with 9% interest until payment. Of the total sum, ₹5 lakh will be locked in a five-year fixed deposit for her future.

💥Proud moment for India. Switch Mobility has delivered the first batch of 10 electric buses to Mauritius under an India-Mauritius government agreement.

The EiV12 buses, manufactured at SWITCH’s facility in Chennai, are part of a 100-bus order for Mauritius’ National Transport Corporation (Bus CNT).

The buses are being provided as a gift from the Government of India to the Government of Mauritius.

The delivery was facilitated by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) and comes as a government-to-government gift from India to Mauritius.

Delhi will reintroduce the legendary DTC U-Special service exclusively for Delhi University students.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the bus service will come back in a modern avatar with AC, LED lighting, music systems, and dedicated student-only access.

Originally launched in the 1970s, U-Special buses served as the lifeline for DU students until the rise of the Delhi Metro. Eventually, they were phased out following the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
