FEDERAL MINISTRY OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT WITHDRAWS REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE OF NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA (NYCN)

The Federal Ministry of Youth development has withdrawn the registration certicate of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN,
Following an official communication from the corporate affairs commission (CAC). The federal ministry of youth development says the registration certificate earlier issued to the national youth council of Nigeria on october 28, 2020 has been withdrawn.

A statement by the Ministry’s Director information and public relations, Omolara Esan notes that upon a detailed review of the council’s records and governance practices, the corporate affairs commission found serial violations of both the NYCN constitution and the provisions of cama 2020, particularly sections 833 and 834. Consequently, the commission has de-recognized all existing claims to leadership, trusteeship, and management within the organization.
The action was taken pursuant to the powers conferred on the commission under sections 8(1)(c) and 8(1)(d) of the companies and allied matters act (cama), 2020, following a comprehensive investigation into the affairs of the council, which has faced a prolonged leadership crisis spanning over eighteen (18) years.

And in line with its statutory powers, the corporate affairs commission has constituted an interim management committee (imc) to oversee and manage the affairs of the council for a period of one (1) year, effective october 6, 2025.

The ministry however, urges all stakeholders to cooperate fully with the interim management committee in the ongoing restructuring process which aimes to restore unity, legitimacy, and institutional integrity to the NYCN.

Arise TV’s Rufai Oseni: “Oseni’s tone and language toward the Minister during the interview were disrespectful” ~ Lere Olayinka

The spokesperson to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka, has shifted his media battle from Omoyele Sowore, a journalist with Sahara Reporters, to Rufai Oseni, a popular presenter on Arise Television.

Olayinka, known for his fiery social media engagements and outspoken commentaries, took to his verified pages to lash out at Oseni following the latter’s recent interview with the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, on Channels Television. He described the Arise TV anchor as “arrogant and untrained,” accusing him of lacking journalistic discipline and professionalism.

According to Olayinka, Oseni’s tone and language toward the Minister of Works during the interview were disrespectful and contrary to the ethical standards expected of a broadcaster. He recalled listening to Oseni address Umahi as “you guys,” describing such expression as rude and unprofessional.

“I listened to Rufai Oseni addressing the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, as ‘you guys.’ I once lectured this man that in journalism there are words you don’t use to address people, especially in their official capacity,” Olayinka wrote.

He further mocked Oseni, suggesting that the founder of Arise Television, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, should create a ‘Nat Geo Wild’ department for the presenter to head. Olayinka alleged that only “animal-like behavior” could explain such conduct on live television.

The FCT Minister’s spokesman also accused the Arise TV anchor of taking the on-air disagreement to social media, describing it as unprofessional conduct. “As a trained TV journalist anchoring a news program, once the program ends, whatever that happened on the program must also end. You don’t go on social media to ma******te, acting like you have lost or won a fight,” he said.

Olayinka has recently been engaged in verbal clashes with several media personalities, including Sahara Reporters’ Omosele, with whom he had exchanged harsh words online over political commentaries. While that confrontation appears to have subsided, Olayinka’s attention has now shifted to Rufai Oseni, who is known for his forthright and sometimes confrontational interviewing style.

His comments have since generated widespread reactions on social media. While some Nigerians defended Rufai Oseni as a journalist who holds public officials accountable, others supported Olayinka’s criticism, arguing that respect and civility should guide broadcast interviews with government officials.

Banditry: Governor Adeleke Speaks on Osun Internal Security:

● Calls for Vigilance Among Monarchs in Border Towns

● Condemns Attacks on Amotekun Corps Commander

OSOGBO – 07/10/2025 – Osunstate.gov.ng

Governor Ademola Adeleke has tasked traditional rulers along border areas of Osun state to be vigilant and report any suspicious infiltration of their communities by alleged bandits from neighbouring states to security agencies.

Speaking after a state security council meeting held at Osogbo, the Governor enjoined traditional councils across the state to report strange settlers who may have entered their territories to security agencies.

According to the governor, this is not the time to allow mass internal migration into Osun communities in view of the ongoing banditry crisis in states bordering Osun state, charging community leaders and stakeholders to report suspicious movements.

“Osun is one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. We are keen to sustain that record. We should watch our borders. Bandits should not be allowed to infiltrate Osun state”, the Governor was quoted as saying.

The governor expressed satisfaction that the security council has mapped out effective plan of action to stop the bandits from gaining foothold in Osun State, thumping up his security team and the various service commanders.

The Governor specifically commended the Agbooro Community, Ikirun, for working with the security agencies to get the group of Bororo settlers who recently occupied parts of their community to peacefully vacate the area.

“I commend the security agencies and the Akinrun-in-Council for acting promptly to resolve the matter. Our border towns should emulate this step and adopt open surveillance in partnership with the security agencies”, the Governor noted in the statement.

Governor Adeleke further decried the reported attacks on the Corps Commander of Amotekun Security Service, Isaac Omoyele, calling the reported assassination attempt unacceptable and a threat to the peace and security of the state.

The Governor who expressed shock at the incident called on the police authorities to conduct thorough investigation into the incident, charging the police to apprehend the suspects without delay.

Mallam Olawale Rasheed,
Spokesperson to the State Governor.

ADC will review Nigeria’s constitution to reflect new order – David Mark

National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has said the party is driven by a strong conviction to serve all Nigerians with commitment and integrity, building an institution that is greater than any individual.

Mark, a former Senate President, said the ADC would review the Nigerian Constitution to reflect a new order, develop a code of ethics, financing rules, and compliance systems if it wins the 2027 general elections.

He also stressed the need to establish functional ward, local government, and state structures with trained organisers, digital registers, and service desks.

Speaking on Tuesday at the opening of the party’s first official National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja, Mark said the time had come for members to begin the work of “resetting Nigeria,” urging them to prepare for the challenges ahead.

“The road will be uphill, sacrifice will be demanded, and those threatened by democracy will resist it. Still, we must advance calmly, courageously, and together as a formidable team,” he said.

He noted that the ADC was determined to build a political institution guided by character, competence, courage, and discipline, stressing that the party would prioritise accountability, internal democracy, and service over personal interests.

“What makes the ADC different is simple: we will be a party of purpose and determination, not impulses — an institution that champions democratic values and a culture of accountability and responsibility across all its organs and in every government it forms,” Mark said.

He described the ADC as a Pan-African, people-oriented, and problem-solving movement sensitive to the needs of the poor, youth, women, workers, entrepreneurs, retirees, and other vulnerable groups.

“We will convert empathy into policy, and policy into results. We will build a party that outlives us all. Other parties revolve around individuals; the ADC will revolve around rules, policies, programmes, and results,” he stated.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has dissolved the branch executives of the Nigeria Gas Infrastructure Company Ltd (NGIC) and the NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML).

The development, detailed in a report seen by TheCable on Monday, is the latest on the internal crisis of PENGASSAN.
