National Book Trust, India National Book Trust, India is an apex body under the Ministry of Education, Government of India Publishing forms a major activity of the Trust.

To achieve its objectives, Trust is publishing good quality books at reasonable price, organizing Book Fairs and Exhibitions in all parts of the country to provide an opportunity for interaction among authors, publishers, librarians and book lovers. It publishes a wide variety of reasonably priced quality books ranging from works of fiction to books on Medical Sciences and cutting edge technology

for all segments of the society and for all age groups, including a wide variety of illustrated books for children. Over the years, the Trust’s determined efforts in developing a strong and inclusive policy towards publishing is also apparent in the variety of books published for visually handicapped and the neo-literates. The Trust publishes books in 18 major Indian languages, which includes Asamiya, Bangla, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Manipuri, Maithili, Marathi, Nepali, Odiya, Punjabi, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. In addition to this, the Trust has also published books in Bhojpuri, Himachali, Kokborok, Khasi, Garo, Lepcha, Bhutia, Mising Limboo, Mizo, Newari, Bodo, among others.

NBT-India Brings Tamil Learning to Varanasi Students

National Book Trust, India organised a Tamil learning activity for the students of Government Queens Inter College, Varanasi, under the theme “Let’s Learn Tamil” as part of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0. The session introduced students to basic Tamil dialogue, pronunciation, and vocabulary, fostering curiosity, cultural respect, and joy in learning. Reflecting the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, the initiative became an enriching and memorable cultural learning experience for all participants.

📚✨ Pune Book Festival 2025 (13–21 Dec) organized by National Book Trust India at Fergusson College, Pune, opened the doors to its Children’s Pavilion on Day 1 with vibrant energy and participation from over 1500 students from schools across the city. The day began with an engaging storytelling by Usha Chhabra using props and puppets, followed by a Book Launch and Read-Aloud session by Varsha from Scholastic that inspired children to create picture postcards. The Spin-a-Tale creative writing session by Vinita Zutshi introduced young minds to the joy of creative writing. The day concluded with a unique session on Collaborative Art and Storytelling experience by artists from France and India, where children wrote words on chits of paper that were transformed into a large, evolving story on a shared canvas, while the children simultaneously illustrated their own interpretations—resulting in a beautiful collective expression of imagination. Throughout the day, the Children’s Pavilion buzzed with activity as children and parents alike were part of the various learning-with-fun zones - Doodle Art, Warli Art, Reading Corner, and Art & Craft zone - all inside the Children's Pavilion.

The 3rd edition of the Pune Book Festival 2025 is now officially open.

It was an absolute honour to witness the grand inauguration ceremony today, graced by an august gathering of visionaries, literary stalwarts, and leaders shaping the future of knowledge in our city.

A distinguished gathering marked the inauguration, featuring Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Shri Murlidhar Mohol, Hon. Minister Shri Chandrakant (Dada) Patil, NBT-India Chairman Shri Milind Sudhakar Marathe, literary icon Shri Vishwas Patil, Convenor of the Pune Book Festival Shri Rajesh Pande, DES Chairman Shri Pramod Rawat, SPPU Vice Chancellor Prof. Suresh Gosavi, along with Smt. वाचन एक संस्कार है, जो एक पीढ़ी से दूसरी पीढ़ी तक पहुँचाया जाता है। इस संस्कार को बढ़ावा देने और आने वाली पीढ़ी में नए पाठक तैयार करने के उद्देश्य से राष्ट्रीय पुस्तक न्यास, पुणे पुस्तक महोत्सव और महाराष्ट्र नेचुरल गैस लिमिटेड (MNGL) की ओर से पुणे शहर के विद्यार्थियों के लिए 'आनंदमठ' ग्रंथ के नि:शुल्क वितरण कार्य का शुभारंभ किया गया।

इस वर्ष राष्ट्रीय गीत 'वंदे मातरम' के 150 वर्ष पूरे हो गए हैं। इस पृष्ठभूमि में, इस गीत के ज्वलंत इतिहास का चित्रण 'आनंदमठ' उपन्यास में किया गया है। इस पुस्तक में भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के कई महत्वपूर्ण पड़ावों और क्रांतिकारियों के त्याग की जानकारी दी गई है। हमारा यह इतिहास हमारी नई पीढ़ी तक पहुँचना चाहिए, इसी भावना के साथ इस पुस्तक का वितरण किया गया। यदि नई पीढ़ी में पढ़ने की रुचि जगेगी, तो भारत एक सुसंस्कृत और सशक्त राष्ट्र के रूप में उभरेगा।
