What chance does a blind person have against a pack of stray dogs? Or monkeys for that matter?

A case before the Delhi High Court seeks to protect the rights of disabled people to access public spaces without fear of being attacked.

A blind person with a cane, for instance, could easily end up being the target of an attack by stray dogs which might feel threatened or misread the different gait of the blind person.

Stray dogs cannot be removed from the streets under the ABC Rules even as the number of dog bite cases keep rising. India has the most number of rabies cases in the world.

A couple of hearings have taken place in the Delhi High Court. Check out what the developments are from the link in the bio.

Disasters loom, says Dr Ravi Chopra in an incisive interview. Floods, forest fires, heat islands are some indicators of the ecology of the mountains being under severe stress.
Dr Chopra worries that the government seems to be living in denial of this environmental crisis. He set up the People’s Science Institute 40 years ago to create awareness of what the mountains need. He continues the good fight. Read the full interview from the link in the bio.

Three Waters, the Goan non-hotel

Are you looking for the Goa you used to know? Try Three Waters in Betul far from beach parties and mindless tourists.
Billed as a non-hotel it is also a museum for seashells.
A villa with seven rooms, beautifully restored, Three Waters is at the point the Sal river joins the Arabian Sea. That accounts for ‘two waters’. The third is a nearby spring which is said to have healing properties.
And Betul? That’s Goa’s only non-mechanized fishing village
