This is the same Mansoor Ahmed who cracked down hard on SHOs and Sub-Inspectors posted in UP and curbed their high-handedness and lawlessness.

In Allahabad, the police held Mansoor Ahmed in illegal custody for eight days starting March 19.

He was not even given the opportunity to furnish a personal bond; instead, he was arrested unlawfully—on trumped-up charges—and thrown into jail.

The High Court has now directed the state government to pay Mansoor Ahmed compensation of ₹2 lakh within six weeks.

This compensation amount will be recovered from the salary of the then-ACP responsible for the wrongful action.

This sets the legal precedent for how such police misconduct will be handled in the future.
