The recent Sommelier India Wine Dinner at Le Cirque at the Leela Palace Hotel was a huge success. The restaurant presented an excellent five-course meal that reached new heights when paired with a fine selection of wines from Wines snd Spirits. The wines drank superbly with the food, making both taste better! It was one of those rare occasions when everything came together and matched the upbeat mood of being able to meet again for a Wine Dinner after a long break. Thanks to who took personal interest in it and to for the wine selection despite my anxieties given the excise scenario in Delhi.

Sula bags top honour at the International Wine Challenge 2022.

As the International Wine Challenge 2022 awards came in, Sommelier India was delighted to learn that for the first time an Indian wine had won a Gold medal at this prestigious competition known for its impartial and rigorous judging.

The IWC release noted, “India had its first taste of Gold Medal success with a sparkling rosé wine – Sula Brut Tropicale Cremant De Nashik NV produced by Sula Vineyards. The highest medal previously won by India was a silver in 2015.“

Oz Clarke, Co-Chair of the International Wine Challenge commented, “It is always fantastic to see award-winners from countries with little to no previous experience of success in the Challenge.”

“We are absolutely thrilled to be the first ever Indian winery to win a Gold medal with our Brut Tropicale bubbly,” said Rajeev Samant, Founder & CEO of Sula Vineyards. “This award is a terrific milestone that firmly puts Indian wines on the world wine map and paves the way for many more to come.”
