Article 15 - Prohibition of Discrimination

Article 15 of the Constitution of India protects citizens from discrimination.

It clearly states that the State cannot treat any person unfairly on the basis of religion, race, caste, s*x, or place of birth.

In simple terms, your identity - who you are or where you come from - should never decide your rights or opportunities.

At the same time, Article 15 allows the government to make special provisions for women, children, and socially and educationally backward classes, including SC and ST communities. This is done to create real equality in society.
