When a fire broke out at a hotel in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, several guests found themselves trapped with no safe way out.
That’s when local mattress trader Riyazuddin and his son stepped up. According to reports, they rushed mattresses from their nearby shop and spread them on the road below, creating a cushion for people forced to jump from the upper floors to escape the flames.
The mattresses were reportedly worth around ₹2 lakh, but in that critical moment, saving lives mattered more than the cost.
Their quick thinking and selfless actions helped rescue multiple people and earned praise from across the country. In recognition of their bravery, they were later reportedly rewarded with ₹1 lakh.
A powerful reminder that heroes don’t always wear uniforms—they’re often ordinary people who choose to act when it matters most.
