نحن، ائتلاف من الصحفيين الأفارقة من مختلف أنحاء القارة، اجتمعنا تحت مظلة الصحفيين الأفارقة ضد الإبادة الجماعية (AJAG) لندين الاستهداف المتعمد والمقصود لزملائنا الصحفيين الفلسطينيين في غزة من قبل إسرائيل. وقد أُنشئ AJAG على يد الصحفية النيجيرية في مجال البث، إريتي باكاري-يوسف، ويجمع صحفيين وإعلاميين من أكثر من 20 دولة إفريقية.
منذ أن أعلن الكيان الإسرائيلي وجيشه عن نيتهما الإبادية ضد شعب غزة، قُتل أكثر من 250 صحفياً هناك – وهو أكثر الفترات دموية بالنسبة للصحفيين في القرن الحادي والعشرين. كما منعت إسرائيل معظم الصحفيين الدوليين من دخول القطاع وتغطية الكارثة الإنسانية هناك. لذلك، اضطر العالم إلى الاعتماد على شجاعة ومثابرة الصحفيين الفلسطينيين في غزة. إن الاستهداف المتعمد لهؤلاء الصحفيين يوضح بجلاء استراتيجية إسرائيل القائمة على قمع الحقيقة وإسكات الإعلام. فبدون أصواتهم وعيونهم وإصرارهم على نقل الأخبار وتوثيق الجرائم على الأرض، لكان العالم أعمى عن الحجم الكامل للحملة الإبادية التي تشنها إسرائيل ضد شعب محاصر.
نحن من مختلف أرجاء إفريقيا، ولكننا تكلمنا بصوت واحد في فيديو ضد الاستهداف المتعمد للصحفيين الفلسطينيين. نحن نؤمن أن زملاءنا الفلسطينيين في غزة يُعاقبون فقط لأنهم يكشفون للعالم الحقيقة.
وبصفتنا أفارقة، نعرف جيداً الوجه القبيح للاستعمار والاحتلال والفصل العنصري. لذلك ندعو المجتمع الدولي إلى فرض العقوبات على إسرائيل ومعاملتها كما عومل نظام الفصل العنصري في جنوب إفريقيا. نحن نطالب بالمساءلة والعدالة لزملائنا الفلسطينيين.
الصحافة هي شريان الحقيقة. إنها صدى لصوت الشعوب، وتُحمّل الحكومات المسؤولية، وتفحص السياسات والإجراءات التي تشكل حياة المواطنين. إن تغطية جرائم الحرب التي يرتكبها الجيش والكيان الإسرائيلي ليست جريمة؛ بينما قتل الصحفيين هو الجريمة. يطالب AJAG بأن تتم محاسبة إسرائيل على هذه الجرائم بموجب القانون الدولي، مثلها مثل أي جريمة أخرى. إن صمت العالم وتقاعسه يجعلنا جميعاً متواطئين في جرائم قتل زملائنا الفلسطينيين.
ندعو جميع نقابات وهيئات الصحفيين الوطنية، إلى جانب اتحاد الصحفيين الأفارقة (FAJ)، وغيرها من المؤسسات الصحفية القارية والدولية، إلى المطالبة بالمساءلة والعدالة. الأصوات الإفريقية لا يمكن أن تبقى صامتة. نرجو منكم مشاركة مقطع الفيديو الخاص بنا وتضخيم نداءنا. طالبوا بإنهاء إبادة إسرائيل في غزة، الآن!

We, a coalition of African journalists from across the continent, have joined our voices under the umbrella of African Journalists Against Genocide (AJAG) to condemn Israel’s intentional and deliberate targeting of our Palestinian colleagues in Gaza. AJAG was created by Nigerian broadcast journalist, Ireti Bakare-Yusuf and brings together journalists and media personnel from over 20 Africa countries.
Since the Israeli government and its military declared its genocidal intent against the people of Gaza, over 250 journalists have been killed in Gaza – the deadliest period for journalists in the 21st century. Israel has prevented almost all international journalists from entering the area and covering the catastrophic humanitarian situation there. Therefore, the world has had to rely on the courage and tenacity of Palestinian journalists based in Gaza. The deliberate targeting of these journalists indicates the Israeli state’s clear strategy of suppressing the truth and silencing media. Without their voices, their eyes, their determination to inform, report and document the atrocities on the ground, the world would be blind to the full scale of Israel's genocidal campaign against a besieged population.
We hail from over all over Africa, but have spoken in unison in a video, against the deliberate targeting of Palestinian journalists. We believe that our Palestinian colleagues in Gaza are being punished for simply telling the world the truth.
As Africans we know too well the ugly face of colonialism, occupation and apartheid. We call on the international community to apply sanctions and treat Israel as it once treated apartheid South Africa. We demand accountability and justice for our Palestinian colleagues.
Journalism is the lifeblood of truth. It echoes the voice of the people, holds government to account, and interrogate the actions and policies that shapes the lives of citizens. Reporting on the war crimes of the Israeli military and state is not a crime; killing journalists is a crime. AJAG demands that like all crimes, Israel must be held accountable under international law. The world’s silence and inaction make us all complicit to the murders of our Palestinian colleagues.
We call on all national journalist groups and formations, along with the Federation of African Journalists (FAJ) and other continental and international press groups to demand accountability and justice.
