Most architects' frustration with AI is not a tool problem. It is a category mistake.

CAD computes a function. The model samples from a distribution. Same brief, two runs, two different defensible proposals. Not a bug. The architecture.

When the tool produces twelve courtyards before lunch, the architect's work moves from operating to evaluating — from generating outputs to naming which one to keep.

That was always the deepest part of the discipline. AI did not invent it. It exposed it.
