On Monday June 8th morning, a case was reported at Dibrugarh P.S. that a girl aged 19 yrs had allegedly been abducted by an unknown person while she had gone for a morning walk along with her mother at about 5:30 AM. The complainant stated that while her mother was plucking flowers, an unknown person allegedly placed a handkerchief over the victim's mouth, causing her to lose consciousness, and thereafter abducted her. It was further alleged that the victim was subsequently recovered from Tinsukia Railway Station, where she informed her parents that she had been kept inside a sack (basta).
The victim girl was examined thoroughly. Police also examined CCTV footages at various locations. Victim girl stated that she had voluntarily left her house and travelled by an auto-rickshaw to Banipur Railway Station with the intention of going to Guwahati to pursue a career in modelling. She further stated that her parents did not approve of her aspiration to become a model, and therefore she left home without informing them. The victim further stated that after boarding the train and reaching Tinsukia Railway Station, she became frightened and got down from the train. Thereafter, she contacted her father over the phone and falsely informed him that she had been abducted by unknown persons.
The victim was medically examined, and no allegation of kidnapping, abduction, wrongful confinement, or any other offence was substantiated during the enquiry. Subsequently, she was handed over to her parents after completion of necessary formalities.
