Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has issued a 15-day ultimatum to the district administration, demanding swift action against Nirmal Jain over allegations of fraudulently procuring an indigenous certificate. The union termed him a “habitual offender” and expressed strong dissatisfaction over prolonged inaction by authorities. DNSU alleged that such illegal acquisition threatens the land and identity rights of indigenous Naga people and called for immediate cancellation of the certificate and related properties. It warned that failure to act within the stipulated time could trigger public unrest and compel the union to take its own course of action.

Muslim Council Dimapur (MCD) has raised concerns over the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025, especially the rule that allows non-Muslims to be part of the Waqf Board. At a press meet, MCD leader Ahidur Rehman said non-Muslims may not understand the religious importance of Waqf, which is an Islamic charity system. He said that while Nagaland has no Waqf properties, Muslims in the state support others across India. Rehman welcomed transparency and women’s involvement but felt non-Muslim members are not suitable. He hopes the Supreme Court, hearing the case on April 16, will ensure justice.
