King Khunjaoba (1652–1666 A.D.) –
After the death of his father King Khagemba, King Khunjaoba ascended the throne of Kangleipak with his consort Leimarel Takhembi.
●Originally known as: • Thangta-Khoinai Selhongba-
Because his reign brought prosperity and social development, his name was later changed to:
• Khunjaoba ("one who brings welfare to the people")
King Khunjaoba had no children of his own and adopted:
• Paikhomba, son of his younger brother Nongpok Khongphen Thouba Tonaba
During his reign, the kingdom flourished due to: • Imoinu worship traditions • Economic growth • Social stability
In 1658 A.D., he formally celebrated:
• Mera Santuba (Mera Hou Chongba)
for the welfare and unity of the hill and valley peoples.
He also constructed important embankments: • Chingnga to Thangmeiband • Khairamband
These embankments improved transportation, communication, and the defense of Imphal Kangla.
📜 His reign marked an important milestone because events in the Cheitharol Kumbaba began to be systematically recorded with exact day, date, month, and year.
A king remembered for unity, prosperity, and strengthening the bond between hill and valley communities.
