CHHATH PUJA CELEBRATED WITH DEVOTION AND GRANDEUR ACROSS THE REGION

Diphu, October 27:
Chhath Puja, the festival dedicated to the worship of the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya, was celebrated today with great devotion and enthusiasm across various parts of the region including Karbi Anglong, Nagaon, and Hojai.

From early morning, devotees were seen preparing Prasad items such as thekua, fruits, and sugarcane, to offer during the evening rituals. The riverbanks and ponds of the area were decorated with earthen lamps and colourful lights as devotees gathered to perform Sandhya Arghya, offering prayers to the setting sun.

Women observing the Chhath vrat continued their 36-hour long fast without water or food, praying for the prosperity and well-being of their families. Local administrations made elaborate arrangements to ensure safety and cleanliness at the ghats. Volunteers and police personnel were deployed to manage the crowd and maintain order.

Tomorrow morning, devotees will offer Usha Arghya — prayers to the rising sun — which will mark the conclusion of the four-day-long Chhath Puja rituals.

Chhath Puja, though traditionally celebrated in Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh, has now become a festival observed with equal devotion by people living across India, symbolising purity, faith, and harmony
