It is noted that during the third phase of the Bodoland movement the said community did not provide any support to ABSU.

Resolution No. 2
It is a matter of deep concern that granting Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to a numerically large community under the Constitution could have severe adverse consequences for existing Scheduled Tribe communities. Such an expansion may dilute limited reservation, welfare and development resources and make it difficult for smaller ST communities to compete for benefits. ABSU therefore should resolve to oppose any proposal that would extend ST status in a manner that threatens the interests of the existing ST communities unless an independent, transparent socio-economic impact assessment is carried out.

BPF Supremo Hagrama Mohilary Issues Ultimatum on NDA Alliance

Kokrajhar, Oct 3: After a detailed discussion in the Policy Making Body meeting, Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) chief Hagrama Mohilary made his stand clear regarding the party’s position in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Mohilary stated that the BPF will not remain in the NDA if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues to keep the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) as a partner in the alliance.

“The BPF has no issues with the NDA as a whole, but if BJP does not remove UPPL from the alliance, then BPF will be compelled to exit,” Mohilary asserted.

The statement marks a significant political development in Bodoland politics, as both BPF and UPPL are key players in the region.

BPF President Hagrama Mohilary Invites Assam CM for BTC Oath-Taking Ceremony

Kokrajhar, Sept 28:
The Hon’ble President of the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), Sjt. Hagrama Mohilary, today met with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, at Dispur, Guwahati, and extended a formal invitation to attend the grand Oath-Taking and Swearing-in Ceremony of the new Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Executive Members.

The historic ceremony is scheduled to be held on 5th October 2025 at 11 AM at the Kokrajhar Green Field near BTC Secretariat.

The programme will be graced by His Excellency, the Governor of Assam, Sjt. Lakshman Acharya, as the Chief Guest, while the Special Guest of the occasion will be the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The BPF’s sweeping victory in the BTC elections has paved the way for the return of Hagrama Mohilary as Chief Executive Member (CEM), marking a new chapter in Bodoland’s political journey.

A large turnout of leaders, dignitaries, and citizens is expected to witness the swearing-in ceremony, which is being seen as a momentous event for the Bodoland region.

The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) will launch a fresh movement from October, as announced by ABSU President Dipen Boro. The upcoming movement will not focus on the demand for a separate state but will emphasize key issues such as:

Amendment of Article 125

Strengthening of the powers of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR)

Provincialisation of schools

The ABSU President has urged all members and supporters to prepare for a continuous mass movement to press for these demands.
