*J-K LG should resign as he has taken responsibility of Pahalgam attack: Owaisi*

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jul 18: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has said that since Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has taken responsibility of security failure in the Pahalgam terror attack, he should resign from the post.

Speaking to reporters at Nanded in Maharashtra on Wednesday, he said he would seek answers from the Modi government in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament over the April 22 terror attack that took place at Baisaran near Pahalgam, in which 26 people were killed.

The Hyderabad MP was part of a multi-party delegation that travelled to Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Algeria to highlight India's anti-terror stance and its Operation Sindoor in the wake of the Pahalgam attack.

Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha, in a recent newspaper interview, admitted that the Pahalgam attack occurred due to intelligence failure and accepted its responsibility.

When asked about it, Owaisi said, "If he (J-K LG) has taken the responsibility, then he should resign. Twenty-six Indians were brutally killed in Pahalgam after they were asked their religion and because they were Hindus. If the LG is in so much pain, he should resign."

"Twenty-six people were killed after being asked their religion and you (J-K LG) merely say this when your tenure is about to end," he added.

"We will ask the Modi government who is responsible for the Pahalgam attack. Who is accountable for this attack? How did the terrorists go there and why was there no police security at the spot? We will ask these questions to the government in the upcoming Parliament session," Owaisi said.

It happened due to security failure and the government should answer it, he added.–(PTI)

Calling for a return to democratic processes, Dr. Abdullah said that restoring statehood is not just a political necessity but a moral obligation that must be fulfilled without delay. [KNT]
