*National Deworming Day Observed Across District Doda with Focus on 100% Coverage*
DODA, AUGUST 10: National Deworming Day (NDD) was observed across District Doda today at health centres, educational institutions and Anganwadi Centres, with the Health Department conducting the campaign in collaboration with the Education Department and ICDS-Poshan Department, on 10-08-2026.
The main district-level programme was organised at Govt Hr SecSchool Girls, Doda, where Chief Medical Officer Doda, Dr. Vinod Sharma, graced the occasion and administered Albendazole tablets to the beneficiaries, formally marking the district-wide observance of National Deworming Day.
Speaking on the occasion, CMO Doda Dr. Vinod Sharma highlighted the importance of deworming in protecting children and adolescents from intestinal worm infections and improving their overall health, nutritional status and capacity to learn. He urged students to take the prescribed dose of Albendazole under the supervision of health and frontline workers and encouraged parents and teachers to support the campaign.
The CMO stressed the need for coordinated efforts among the Health, Education and ICDS-Poshan Departments to ensure that every eligible child and adolescent is covered under the campaign. He called upon health officials and field functionaries to maintain proper coordination, identify beneficiaries who may have been missed and ensure their coverage during the Mop-Up Day.
Dr. Vinod Sharma further urged all Block Medical Officers and health staff to closely monitor the campaign at the grassroots level and ensure effective implementation in every village and institution.
Similar programmes were conducted simultaneously across all Medical Blocks of the district under the supervision of the respective Block Medical Officers. Albendazole tablets were administered to eligible beneficiaries at health facilities, schools and Anganwadi Centres, with health personnel, teachers, Anganwadi workers and other frontline functionaries actively participating in the campaign.
The National Deworming Day campaign aims to reduce the prevalence of intestinal worm infections among children and adolescents and promote better health, nutrition and well-being through regular deworming.
The Mop-Up Day will be observed on August 17, 2026, to provide deworming to eligible beneficiaries who could not receive the dose on National Deworming Day.
