After 26 days on a hunger strike, activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his fast.

Wangchuk broke his fast at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram in the presence of Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, along with senior leaders of the Apex Body of Leh Ladakh.

In a statement shared after midnight, Wangchuk said his decision came after “long negotiations on various conditions” and “in view of possible violence in the country.”

Visuals from the hospital show Jitendra Singh helping Wangchuk sit up while JP Nadda offered him his first sip to break the fast. His wife, Gitanjali Angmo, was also present.

Wangchuk said he will soon release a detailed video explaining the conditions under which he agreed to end the fast.

His hunger strike, which began on 28 June, had become the focal point of a larger protest seeking constitutional safeguards and greater protections for Ladakh.

रामबन टेम्पो हादसा: पूरी जानकारी (22 जुलाई 2026)

आज जम्मू-श्रीनगर राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग (NH-44) पर रामबन जिले के गंगरू (रामसू) क्षेत्र में एक दर्दनाक हादसा हुआ, जिसमें पहाड़ी से अचानक एक विशाल बोल्डर (शूटिंग स्टोन) चलती टेम्पो पर आ गिरा।

हादसे की मुख्य बातें:

स्थान: गंगरू, रामसू, जिला रामबन (NH-44)

तारीख: 22 जुलाई 2026

वाहन: टेम्पो (रजिस्ट्रेशन नंबर JK06B-9842)

रूट: श्रीनगर से डोडा जा रहा था।

कारण: लगातार बारिश के बीच पहाड़ी से भारी बोल्डर गिरकर सीधे टेम्पो पर आ गिरा।

हादसे में हताहत:

2 लोगों की मौत मौके पर ही हो गई।

3 लोग गंभीर रूप से घायल हुए।

सभी पीड़ित कस्तीगढ़ (जिला डोडा) के निवासी बताए गए हैं।

समाचार लिखे जाने तक मृतकों और घायलों की आधिकारिक पहचान सार्वजनिक नहीं की गई थी।

रेस्क्यू और राहत कार्य:

सूचना मिलते ही पुलिस, स्थानीय प्रशासन और बचाव दल मौके पर पहुंचे।

घायलों और मृतकों को प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्र (PHC) रामसू पहुंचाया गया।

क्षतिग्रस्त टेम्पो और मलबे को हटाकर हाईवे पर यातायात बहाल करने का काम शुरू किया गया।

पुलिस ने मामले की जांच शुरू कर दी है।

यह हादसा एक बार फिर दिखाता है कि बारिश के मौसम में जम्मू-श्रीनगर राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर भूस्खलन और शूटिंग स्टोन का खतरा कितना गंभीर रहता है। प्रशासन ने यात्रियों से मौसम खराब होने पर सावधानी बरतने और यात्रा से पहले सड़क की स्थिति की जानकारी लेने की अपील की है।

Two K@illed, Four Inj@ured After Shooting Stones Smash Into Tempo in Ramsoo

Ramban, July 22: In a tragic incident, two people lost their lives while four others were injured after shooting stones struck a passenger Tempo at Gangroo in the Ramsoo area of Ramban district on Wednesday.

Officials said rescue teams immediately rushed to the spot and launched evacuation operations. The injured were shifted to Sub-District Hospital Banihal for medical treatment.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, while further details are awaited.

*Doda Police Seized Over 9 Litres of Illicit Liquor at Assar; One Bootlegger Booked Under Excise Act*

Doda, July 21:

Continuing its sustained drive against the illegal trade and transportation of illicit liquor, Doda Police achieved another success by apprehending a bootlegger and seizing a substantial quantity of illicit liquor during naka checking in the Assar area.

During a naka checking operation conducted by SHO Police Station Assar along with his police team at Trungal Bridge, Assar, one person identified as Sawal Singh S/o Bhagat Ram R/o Gagla, Tehsil Kastigarh, District Doda, was intercepted and subjected to checking.

During the search, the police recovered the following liquor bottles being transported illegally for the purpose of unlawful sale in the area:

*22 bottles (180 ml)*
*03 bottles (375 ml)*
*10 bottles (250 ml)*
*02 bottles (750 ml)*

The total quantity of the seized liquor was more than 9 litres.

The entire consignment was seized on the spot. Accordingly, FIR No. 25/2026 under Section 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Assar, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the illicit liquor.

Doda Police reiterates its firm commitment to curb the illegal sale and transportation of liquor and appeals to the general public to cooperate with the police by sharing information about any such unlawful activities in their respective areas.
