Hosts Historic with 1,508-Metre-Long Tricolour

Doda, Aug 12: In a remarkable celebration of patriotism, the , under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh, organised a historic Tiranga Rally on Monday.

The highlight of the event was a record-breaking 1,508-metre-long tricolour, proudly carried by hundreds of school students through the streets of Doda. The rally drew enthusiastic participation from locals, officials, and educational institutions, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with chants of “ ” and “ .”

Speaking on the occasion, praised the students and organisers for their dedication, calling the rally “a symbol of unity and national pride.” He added that the massive tricolour not only set a new benchmark for the district but also inspired the younger generation to uphold the values of freedom and democracy.

The event was part of the ongoing campaign, marking the nation’s celebrations.

Pitterwal Village of Doda's Marmat Faces Severe Water Shortage for Two Months, Residents Threaten Agitation

Doda, August 10 – Residents of Pitterwal village, falling under Panchayat in Block Marmat of district have been facing an acute shortage of drinking water for the past two months. According to locals, the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department has been fully aware of the crisis, yet no effective action has been taken so far.

Villagers allege that a dispute in the area has disrupted the water supply pipeline, and despite repeated complaints, the issue remains unresolved. They have now appealed to the PHE Department and the
to urgently address the dispute and repair the damaged water pipeline.

“The matter is simple, yet it has been ignored for too long. We are left without adequate drinking water, and it is causing immense hardship to every household,” said one resident.

In a strong warning, the villagers have announced that if the matter is not resolved immediately, they will stage a dharna in front of the District Administration Office, Doda, on Monday.

The residents have urged the authorities to treat this as a genuine and urgent public grievance, demanding immediate intervention to restore the water supply.
