ASU Withdraws Bandh Call After ZFM Organizers Agree to Key Demands
In a decisive meeting convened by the Deputy Commissioner, Ziro, and chaired by Hon’ble MLA Er. Hage Appa at the DC Conference Hall, Hapoli, the Apatani Students’ Union (ASU) agreed to withdraw its bandh call against the Ziro Festival of Music (ZFM). The breakthrough came after festival organizers assured full compliance with conditions put forward by ASU in the interest of Tanii society. As per the resolution, all ZFM stages will be named Danyi, Piilo, and Taker, while artiste line-ups and promotional content on social media will be revised accordingly.
In addition, the organizers, led by Hano Bobby, committed to displaying prominent “ZERO DRUGS ZIRO” banners across key landmarks in Ziro-Hapoli, with further awareness banners to be installed in advance of future festivals. The terms are to be fully implemented by 24th September 2025, ensuring accountability and timely action. The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolve that all stakeholders shall celebrate ZFM with joy, unity, and a shared commitment to a drug-free environment.
