झारखंड की उपराजधानी दुमका जिला मुख्यालय से लगभग 12 किलोमीटर दूर चुटो पहाड़ के नीचे अवस्थित है चुटोनाथ महादेव का मंदिर. स्थानीय भाषा में लोग इन्हें जो चुटोनाथ बाबा भी कहते हैं.

प्रतिदन यहां चुटोनाथ बाबा की पूजा होती है, उनके प्रति भक्तों की असीम श्रद्धा है. यहां पूजा अर्चना करने के लिए झारखंड, बिहार, पश्चिम बंगाल के साथ उत्तर प्रदेश तक से लोग हजारों की संख्या में आते हैं. यहां सच्चे मन से जो भी मांगते हैं बाबा उन्हें जरूर पूरा करते हैं. यहां भगवान शिव, माता पार्वती, मां काली, गणेश भगवान सहित कई देवी- देवताओं के मंदिर हैं. यहां भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती के मंदिर से लगभग 300 मीटर दूर स्थित है पहाड़ी बाबा का मंदिर. ऐसा कहा जाता है पहाड़ी बाबा अपने भक्तों द्वारा फूल और बताशा चढ़ाने से काफी प्रसन्न होते हैं और उनकी मनचाही मुराद पूरी करते हैं. यहां भक्तों द्वारा बलि देने की भी पुरानी परंपरा है.

Palash is commonly known as the “Flame of the forest” or the “Flame tree” and various parts of the plant like flowers, bark, leaf and seed gum are used for medicinal purposes.
