Durgapur is going to get a new thermal power plant by Damodar Valley Corporation [in its existing landbank]. 800MW Ultra Supercritical Unit at DTPS. Around ₹8000 Crore will be invested.

Hospitality - Recent update. Speciality Restaurants Ltd wants to expand in Durgapur.

This expansion is a part of their 100 Cr expansion plan in West Bengal. They will be developing a land parcel of 2.03 acres in Durgapur with Coal Mines Associated Traders Pvt. Ltd and the same has been approved by the board.

Brands by SRL - Mainland China, Oh! Calcutta, Café Mezzuna, Hoppipola, Haka, Riyasat, Dariole and Sweet Bengal.

Durgapur CC (City Center) may soon welcome its second 5-star hotel. The area already houses "Fortune Park Pushpanjali," an ITC Hotel property, as its first 5-star establishment.

Location: The new development is situated just beside Dutta Tower (most likely). This upcoming 5-star hotel will feature 12-13 floors, and construction has already begun. It will likely be a Marriott property, though the specific sub-brand remains uncertain (whether JW, Courtyard, or Fairfield).

In the Picture: The image shows the actual design of the Durgapur property created by a reputed architecture firm.

Note: Neither Marriott nor the architecture firm has made any official announcement about the property or brand. Durgapur to get one more SVF multiplex. This will be SVF's 2nd multiplex in the city. Total number of multiplex in the city will be back to 4. SVF Cinemas

5th multiplex for Durgapur is also under planning.

SVF (Shree Venkatesh Films) is going to open its 2nd multiplex in Durgapur. The location is Junction mall in City Center.

The unit will replace BIOSCOPE multiplex (now closed) which used to function from Junction mall.

SVF already has a functioning multiplex in Raj Sammilonee mall in Benachity, Durgapur. This was their first venture in Durgapur.

âž  Durgapur becomes the first city in West Bengal (except Kolkata) to get Intracity EV (Electric Vehicle) AC (Air-Conditioned) bus from today.

In addition to 2 AC EV intracity buses 5 more CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) intercity buses will start operation from today.
