A 30-year-old man was stabbed to death in Outer North Delhi on Diwali night after a fight over bursting crackers, police said.

All except one of the accused have been arrested, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer-North) Hareshwar Swami said.

Police reached the Shahbad Dairy area after receiving information about a man with stab injuries, and found a man lying on the ground with a wound in his chest near house number 327.

“On inquiry, it was revealed that Dileep alias Sitamber Prasad was beaten by three-four persons, one of whom stabbed him outside his house. Dileep’s brother Deepak, and his friend Sandeep were also injured in the attack,” DCP Swami said.

He said that about an hour before the knife attack, Sandeep and Deepak got into an argument with the accused. There was a disagreement over the bursting of crackers and some abuses were allegedly exchanged.

A case of murder was registered on the basis of Deepak’s statement, and an investigation was opened, the officer said. After recording the statements of witnesses, CCTV footage from nearby areas was scanned. One of the accused was identified as Dheeraj (24), who lives close by, Swami said.

“Technical surveillance was initiated to trace the absconding accused persons. On the basis of manual efforts and technical surveillance, the police team succeeded in apprehending Dheeraj and two of his associates, Akash alias Baba (24), and Tarun (22), who allegedly were involved in the attack on Dileep. One more accused, Ajay alias Alia, is still absconding,” the officer said.

Dheeraj is a delivery boy with an online grocery platform, Akash works in a unit manufacturing utensils, and Tarun is employed in a courier company, police said.

Northern Railway dispatched the first automobile rake carrying 116 passenger vehicles (Maruti Suzuki models like Brezza, Dzire, WagonR, S-Presso) from the Gati Shakti Terminal (GCT) at Manesar, Haryana.

The destination is Anantnag Goods Shed in South Kashmir (in the Kashmir Valley).

⏱️ Timing & Route

It left Manesar at 12:35 pm (on 1 October 2025).

The journey is about 850 km, and is expected to take ≈ 45 hours.

Scheduled arrival is 10:00 am on 3 October 2025 at the newly opened Anantnag Railway Terminal.
This marks the first time an automobile rake is being transported by rail into the Kashmir Valley. So vehicles can now be moved by train, which is expected to ease logistics compared to road transport.

It’s part of the larger Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, which has been pushing to improve rail connectivity for both passengers and freight to/from Kashmir.

Using rail to bring in cars should help reduce road congestion, costs, transit time, and could make vehicle delivery into the Valley more reliable, especially in seasons when roads are difficult.

Maroof Khan Advocates for Reservation Policy Reform in Jammu & Kashmir Say’s Students Should not feel like they are begging; It’s Their Right.

Srinagar; 26th Dec: Maroof Khan, a well-known Political Leader, today made a powerful statement calling for urgent reforms in the reservation policy in Jammu & Kashmir. Khan emphasized that students should not feel like they are begging for opportunities, as securing their rightful place in society is their fundamental right.

Addressing a press conference, Khan stated, “Students are our voice. They represent the future of Jammu & Kashmir, and it is essential to prioritize their needs and aspirations. Students should not feel like they are begging for what is rightfully theirs. It’s their right to have equal opportunities and a fair chance to succeed.”

Khan, demanded immediate action to reform the reservation policy. He reiterated that the reservation cap of 50% set by the Hon’ble Supreme Court must not be exceeded under any circumstances.

The leader also expressed his concern about the increasing number of talented students from Jammu & Kashmir who are forced to leave for better opportunities abroad. “We should not push our best and brightest to seek a future in the United States, United Kingdom, or Canada. We must create opportunities here so that our youth can thrive and contribute to the growth of Jammu & Kashmir,” Khan remarked.

Maroof Khan urged the government to take proactive measures to address this issue and ensure that reservation policies serve the true purpose of empowering underprivileged communities without undermining the aspirations of the meritorious youth. Maroof Khan concluded his statement by stressing the need for a fair, equitable reservation policy that respects the rights of students and ensures a bright future for the next generation.
