This pillar is located in Vaishali city of Bihar. There is only one lion at the top of this Ashoka Pillar.

There is also a Buddhist monastery near the pillar. This pillar of Vaishali is completely different from the other pillars of Emperor Ashoka Mahan because there is only one lion on the top of this pillar and its mouth is towards the north direction in which the Tathagata Buddha made his last visit.

It is made of 14.3 meters high red sandstone. Next to the column is a brick -made stupa and a pond known as Ramkund.

भारतीय मुद्रा (रुपया) के 200 के नोट पर ली गई यह फोटो सम्राट असोक महान द्वारा निर्मित सांची स्तूप की है

साँची स्तूप भारत के मध्य प्रदेश राज्य के रायसेन ज़िले में साँची नगर के पास एक पहाड़ी पर स्थित एक छोटा सा गांव है।

यह बेतवा नदी के किनारे, भोपाल से 46 कि॰मी॰ पूर्वोत्तर में, तथा बेसनगर और विदिशा से 10 कि॰मी॰ की दूरी पर मध्य प्रदेश के मध्य भाग में स्थित है।

यहाँ कई बौद्ध स्मारक हैं, जो तीसरी शताब्दी ई.पू. से बारहवीं शताब्दी के बीच के काल के हैं मौर्यवंश के तीसरे सम्राट जिसे सम्राट असोक महान मौर्य ने बनवाया था !

Site of Buddha’s First Sermon

The most celebrated of the Ashokan pillars is the one erected at Sarnath, the site of Buddha’s First Sermon where he shared the Four Noble Truths (the dharma or the law). Currently, the pillar remains where it was originally sunk into the ground, but the capital is now on display at the Sarnath Museum. It is this pillar that was adopted as the national emblem of India.
