Hey guys, how’s it going? About 15 days ago, I had an incredible shoot at Balaram Palace Resort as a UGC creator, and I wanted to dive into some of the technical details that made this shoot special.
For starters, the architecture and natural beauty of the resort were perfect for a mix of photography styles. We leaned heavily into capturing wide-angle shots to really showcase the grandeur of the palace and its surroundings. The neo-classical architecture, with its intricate carvings and expansive gardens, provided stunning compositions that were just begging for those dramatic wide frames.
When it came to lighting, we were blessed with natural sunlight filtering through the gardens. I used this to my advantage by shooting during the golden hour, which helped us capture the warm, inviting tones that really enhanced the luxurious feel of the resort. For indoor shots, where the light was softer and more controlled, I focused on using the available natural light from the large windows. This helped maintain the authenticity of the space while highlighting the rich textures and details of the antique furniture and decor.
I also played around with different focal lengths to capture the essence of the resort. For the grand halls and wide garden spaces, I stuck with a 24mm lens to capture as much of the scene as possible. For more intimate details, like the intricate carvings or vintage furniture, I switched to a 50mm prime lens, which gave me that crisp depth of field and made those details pop.
One interesting technique we used was long exposure for some of the shots, especially in the gardens and around the fountains. This allowed us to capture the serene, almost dream-like quality of the place, with the soft flow of water and gentle breeze moving through the trees. The result was a set of images that felt both timeless and peaceful—exactly the vibe we were aiming for.
But it wasn't just about capturing the architecture and nature. Balaram Palace Resort is known for its hospitality, so we also focused on lifestyle photos that showcased the luxurious experience guests can expect. Whether it was enjoying a cup of tea in the elegant lounges, lounging by the pool, or dining at the palace’s restaurant, we made sure to highlight the warm and welcoming atmosphere that the resort offers.
Finally, we experimented with some creative compositions, like framing shots through arches or windows, which added depth and context to the images. These kinds of shots are great for UGC because they tell a story and draw viewers in, making them feel like they're stepping into the scene themselves.
I've got a bunch of photos from this shoot, but I’m sharing three of my favorites here. If you’re curious to see more or have any questions about the techniques I used, let me know in the comments! And if you’re a fellow UGC creator, Balaram Palace Resort is definitely worth adding to your list!
