Seventeen families from Lower Polok and Upper Polok Wards under Borong Phamtam GPU (09-Barfung) today left the CAP and SDF party and joined the SKM party. The joining took place under the guidance of Shri Tashi Gyalpo Bhutia (Bhaichung), Vice-President (In-charge) of the SKM Contractor Wing, at his residence in Bhojoghari, Gangtok District.

A mass joining programme is scheduled to be held at Ravangla Community Hall in the coming days in the presence of Hon’ble Area MLA Shri Riksal Dorjee Bhutia.

I had the honour of paying a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, and had a warm, cordial, and meaningful interaction.

At the outset, I extended my heartiest congratulations to the Hon’ble Prime Minister on the remarkable milestone of becoming the longest-serving Head of Government in India.
During the meeting, I apprised him of Sikkim’s key developmental priorities and emerging needs, and discussed avenues for further strengthening support in areas such as infrastructure development, sustainable growth, and the overall welfare of our people.
I also expressed my sincere appreciation and gratitude for the reopening of the Nathu La Pass trade route (Silk Route), scheduled to resume from June 2026, which is expected to significantly benefit local communities as well as the trading fraternity.

Further, I had the privilege of extending a warm invitation to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for the closing ceremony of the Golden Jubilee of Sikkim’s Statehood, which he graciously accepted.

Likewise, I conveyed my heartiest gratitude for the continued guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support extended by the Government of India towards the sustained progress and prosperity of the State of Sikkim.

India Urges Citizens in Iran: Stay Indoors for 48 Hours, Avoid Military and Power Sites Amid Escalating Tensions

New Delhi, April 7 : With fears of new strikes looming over Iran, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued a strong safety advisory to all Indian nationals in the country. On Tuesday evening, the embassy urged Indians to stay where they are for the next 48 hours, avoid unnecessary travel, and keep a safe distance from military installations and electrical facilities.

The alert comes at a particularly sensitive time, as the 10-day deadline given by US President Donald Trump to Iran seems to be nearing its end. Trump had earlier warned on Truth Social that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” while suggesting that last-minute developments could still change the situation.

In its detailed advisory, the embassy has instructed citizens not to go onto upper floors of high-rise buildings as a precaution. Those staying in hotels arranged by the embassy have been specifically told to remain indoors and maintain regular contact with embassy staff present on-site.

“Stay indoors and keep in touch with on-site embassy teams,” the message emphasized. It further advised that any travel on highways should only occur after receiving clear guidance from the embassy.

Indian nationals have been urged to closely monitor official updates from the embassy and stay alert at all times. सम्माननीय मुख्यमन्त्री प्रेम सिंह तामाङ (गोले) नेतृत्वको सिक्किम सरकारले अघि सारेका दूरदर्शी योजनाहरू अहिले व्यवहारमै परिणत हुन थालेका छन्। विशेषतः 2024 लाई लक्षित गर्दै बिजुली खानेपानी र सडकजस्ता आधारभूत पूर्वाधारलाई पहिलो प्राथमिकतामा राख्ने सरकारको स्पष्ट सोचले ग्रामीण क्षेत्रमा उल्लेखनीय परिवर्तन ल्याउन थालेको छ।
यसै सन्दर्भमा, सोरेङ जिल्लाअन्तर्गत सोरेङ च्याखुङ निर्वाचन क्षेत्रको 19 बुदाङ ग्राम पञ्चायत एकाई अन्तर्गतमा पर्नेपर्ने पक्किगाँउ डिसपेन्सरी गोलाइदेखि चुमुङसम्मको सडक अहिले तीव्र गतिमा कालोपत्रे भइरहेको छ। करिब 3 करोड 71 लाख रुपैयाँको लगानीमा सञ्चालन भइरहेको यो परियोजना दुर्गम गाउँहरूको समग्र विकासतर्फको एक सशक्त उदाहरण बनेको छ।

यस योजनाको सबैभन्दा प्रेरणादायी पक्ष भनेको गाउँको काम गाउँकै युवाले भन्ने अवधारणा हो। सोही नीति अनुरूप स्थानीय ठेकेदार गणेश कुमार राईलाई निर्माण कार्यको जिम्मेवारी दिइएको छ। यसले न केवल गाउँमै रोजगारी सिर्जना गरेको छ तर स्थानीय युवाको क्षमता र दक्षतालाई पनि उजागर गरेको छ।

स्थानीय स्तरमै ठूला परियोजना सञ्चालन हुन सक्ने सन्देशले ग्रामीण समाजमा आत्मविश्वास थपेको छ। यस कदमलाई सरकारको समावेशी र दीर्घकालीन विकास रणनीतिको उत्कृष्ट नमूना मानिएको छ।

यस महत्वपूर्ण परियोजनालाई गति दिनसोरेङ च्याखुङ समष्टिका क्षेत्र विधायक आदित्य गोले को भूमिका अत्यन्त सराहनीय रहेको छ। स्थलगत निरीक्षणका क्रममा सडकको अत्यन्त दयनीय अवस्था देखेपछि उहाँले तुरुन्तै यसलाई प्राथमिकतामा राख्दै उच्च तहसम्म पहल गर्नुभएको थियो।
विधायक गोलेको सक्रियता समर्पण र जनमुखी दृष्टिकोणले नै आज यो परियोजना युद्धस्तरमा अघि बढ्न सम्भव भएको स्थानीयवासीहरू बताउँछन्। उहाँको नेतृत्वलाई जनताले विकासप्रति प्रतिबद्ध र जिम्मेवार रूपमा मूल्याङ्कन गरेका छन्।

उक्त सडक 2011 मा निर्माण गरिएको भए पनि लामो समयसम्म आवश्यक मर्मतसम्भार नहुँदा अत्यन्त जिर्ण अवस्थामा पुगेको थियो। वर्षायाममा सडक हिलाम्मे र जोखिमपूर्ण बन्ने हुँदा बिरामी तथा आपतकालीन अवस्थाका व्यक्तिहरूलाई अस्पताल पुर्‍याउन निकै कठिन हुने गरेको थियो।
स्थानीय बासिन्दाहरूका अनुसार, अघिल्लो सरकारको कार्यकालमा यस सडकलाई कालोपत्रे गर्न पटक पटक माग स्थानीय जनताले राखिएता पनि उचित सम्बोधन हुन सकेन। जनताले विकासको अपेक्षा गरे पनि त्यसबेला आवश्यक पहल नहुँदा गुनासो बढ्दै गएको थियो। कतिपय अवस्थामा बिरामीलाई डोकोमा बोकेर मुख्य सडकसम्म ल्याउनुपर्ने बाध्यता रहेको र यसले ज्यान जोखिममा पर्ने घटनासमेत निम्त्याएको पीडादायी अवस्था स्थानीयले स्मरण गरेका छन्।

हाल सडक कालोपत्रे कार्य तीव्र गतिमा अघि बढिरहँदा स्थानीय बासिन्दाहरूमा उत्साह र आशा दुवै बढेको छ। सडक निर्माण सम्पन्न भएसँगै दैनिक आवतजावत सहज हुनुका साथै स्वास्थ्य सेवा पहुँच शिक्षा, व्यापार तथा कृषकहरूमा समग्र आर्थिक गतिविधिमा ठूलो सुधार आउने अपेक्षा गरिएको छ।
स्थानीय जनप्रतिनिधि, बासिन्दा तथा निर्माण पक्षले मुख्यमन्त्री प्रेम सिंह तामाङ र विधायक आदित्य गोले प्रति कृतज्ञता व्यक्त गर्दै यस परियोजनालाई दिगो विकासतर्फको ऐतिहासिक कदमका रूपमा लिएका छन्।
