am delighted to learn that Miss Anjali Adhikari has successfully completed her Commercial Pilot Training at Avyanna Aviation Academy in Rajasthan.

The daughter of a single mother, Smt. Mamta Basnett, and a resident of Navgaon, Namcheybong, under Pakyong District, Anjali has made her family and the entire state proud.

Seeing our young talents excel in their chosen fields and emerge as inspirations for future generations is a matter of immense pride and joy. The Government of Sikkim is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment for talented and deserving individuals like Anjali, empowering them with opportunities, encouragement, and necessary support to pursue their aspirations and realise their full potential.

I am also pleased to note that Anjali will soon travel to Bangkok to undertake the A320 Type Rating course at Acron Aviation Bangkok, an important milestone in her journey towards becoming a commercial airline pilot.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Miss Anjali Adhikari and my best wishes for her future endeavours. May she continue to soar higher, achieve greater success, and inspire countless young aspirants across the state to pursue their dreams with confidence and dedication.

During the interaction, we discussed various matters concerning the welfare, aspirations, and interests of government employees. First International Agro Tourism Festival 2026 – Day 3 Closing Ceremony

The three-day-long First International Agro Tourism Festival 2026 concluded successfully at Rhenock Bazar, Pakyong District, celebrating the rich connection between agriculture, tourism, culture, heritage, and rural entrepreneurship.

The closing ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Minister, Shri Arun Upreti, as the Chief Guest.

The festival brought together farmers, tourism stakeholders, entrepreneurs, artisans, government representatives, and guests from different parts of India and abroad. It served as a vibrant platform to showcase the immense potential of agro-tourism as a sustainable tool for rural development, livelihood generation, and community empowerment.

Grand Finale of Miss Universe Sikkim 2026 Held at Dhapper Yangang

Namchi, 15 June: The Grand Finale of Miss Universe Sikkim 2026 was held successfully on 14 June at Yangang and was graced by Chief Guest Hon’ble Minister Shri Bhoj Raj Rai, along with Hon’ble Deputy Speaker-cum-Area MLA Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, Hon’ble MLA Shri Satish Chandra Rai, Advisors, Chairpersons, APS to HCM, ADC Ravangla, SDM Yangang, BDO Yangang, Zilla Panchayat and Panchayat members, State and District Level Culture Wing representatives, YTDC members, CLC bodies, and departmental officials.

During the event, Hon’ble Raj Kumari Thapa Ma’am conveyed her best wishes to all the contestants and appreciated their confidence, dedication, and hard work. She expressed her hope that, in the years to come, more talented young women from Yangang would participate and excel on prestigious platforms such as Miss Universe Sikkim and beyond. She encouraged the youth to believe in themselves, pursue their aspirations with determination, and continue bringing pride to Yangang and Sikkim through their achievements.

At the grand finale, Pema Choden Bhutia was crowned Miss Universe Sikkim 2026. Youdenla Bhutia secured the position of 1st Runner-Up, while Bindita Basnett was named the 2nd Runner-Up.

A particularly heartening outcome of hosting the event in Yangang was the discovery of Donila Bhutia, a 17-year-old girl from rural Yangang. Although she was not eligible to participate in the competition due to her age, her confidence, poise and natural presence drew the attention of the judges and organisers, who recognised immense potential in her as a future runway model. Her story reflects the untapped talent that exists in rural communities and highlights the importance of bringing prestigious platforms such as Ms Universe Sikkim closer to grassroots youth.

The grand finale celebrated the beauty, talent, confidence, and aspirations of contestants from across Sikkim. The event provided a platform for young women to showcase their skills, personality, and dedication while promoting empowerment, leadership, and cultural pride. The vibrant atmosphere and enthusiastic participation made the occasion a memorable and inspiring celebration for everyone present.

SIMFED Chairman Shri Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia Celebrates Birthday with Special Children

On the occasion of his birthday , Shri Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia chose to celebrate his special day in a meaningful way by visiting the Rewa Special School for Children with Disabilities, under the Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim.

During his visit, Shri Bhutia inspected various rooms of the hostel, the toilet facilities, and other infrastructure within the institution. He also interacted with the Principal and caretakers to understand the needs and challenges faced by the children and the institution.

After reviewing the facilities, he assured the management that support would be provided for essential requirements, including hostel necessities, renovation of toilet facilities, and repairs to the main entrance gate grill and other infrastructure improvements. He expressed his commitment to helping create a more comfortable and supportive environment for the children.

Instead of celebrating his birthday through personal festivities, Shri Bhutia dedicated the day to spending time with the children, understanding their needs, and extending support for their well-being. His visit reflected a strong sense of compassion, social responsibility, and commitment to the welfare of differently-abled children in Sikkim.

Yoga Mahotsav 2026 Held at Singtam

The Pre-International Yoga Day Celebration – Yoga Mahotsav 2026 was successfully organized by the Nirmala Devi Foundation, Singtam, drawing enthusiastic participation from a large number of local residents and yoga enthusiasts.

The programme was graced by Singtam Nagar Panchayat President Shri Mukesh Agarwal, Councillor Shri Suresh Tamang, along with other distinguished officials and dignitaries.

The event was initiated and organized under the leadership of Shri Gajanand Agarwal, President of Nirmala Devi Foundation, along with his dedicated team. The Foundation has been conducting this free annual yoga camp in Singtam with the objective of promoting healthy living, wellness, and awareness about the benefits of yoga among the public.

The initiative aligns with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who has championed yoga as a global movement, and receives encouragement from Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), whose government continues to support activities that foster health, fitness, and holistic well-being.

The programme witnessed active participation from people across different age groups, reflecting the growing popularity of yoga as a way of life and reinforcing the message of “Yoga for Healthy Living.”
