Sikkim Government Announces Key Postings in Commerce and Industries Department

The Government of Sikkim, through an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel on December 3, 2024, announced the reassignment of key officials within the Commerce and Industries Department. The Governor has approved the following appointments with immediate effect:

1. Jigmi Wangdi Bhutia, SCS, Deputy Secretary, DIC (E&N), Gangtok, has been appointed as General Manager, DIC, Pakyong District.

2. Ander Das Rai, Deputy Director, DIC (S&W), Jorethang, has been assigned as General Manager, DIC, Gyalshing District.

3. Lok Bahadur S***a, Deputy Director, DIC (S&W), Jorethang, has been posted as General Manager, DIC, Namchi District.

4. Anula Gurung, Assistant Director, DIC (S&W), Jorethang, has been appointed as General Manager, DIC, Soreng District.

The orders have been signed by Tshering Bhutia, SCS, Deputy Secretary to the Government of Sikkim.

Woman Found Dead in Suspected Su***de in Gangtok

Gangtok, December 3, 2024: A 40-year-old woman was found dead in a suspected case of su***de at a rented accommodation in Gangtok District. The incident reportedly occurred around 2:30 PM when the woman was discovered hanging in a locked room on the ground floor of the residence.

Police registered a case following a complaint by the landlord, who was informed about the incident by his family.

Authorities, including local police and officials, investigated the scene. The room was found locked from the inside, and entry was gained by breaking a window in the presence of witnesses. The woman's body was discovered hanging from a wooden beam and was later sent to STNM Hospital for autopsy.

Initial findings suggest that the woman and her husband, who was not present at the time, were known to consume alcohol frequently and reportedly had disputes.

Several empty alcohol bottles were recovered from the room. The husband's mobile phone was found switched off, and efforts to locate other family members are ongoing.

Police stated that no signs of foul play have been identified so far, and the investigation is ongoing.
