Sikkim Police Continue Crackdown on Drugs: Two Arrested at Nayabazaar

Nayabazaar, Sikkim – In a continued effort to combat drug trafficking, Sikkim Police intercepted two individuals at Mangal Turning, Nayabazaar, leading to a significant seizure of controlled substances.

The accused have been identified as Sonam Tashi Tamang (31), resident of Rothak, and Mani Tamang (27), resident of Basmey. The duo was traveling on a scooty when police intercepted them and conducted a search of their navy blue bag, which led to the recovery of a large quantity of controlled substances.

A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA), 2006, and further investigation is underway.

Sikkim Police – Drugs Clearance Operation

Acting on a tip-off, the Singtam Police team, led by SHO PI Sher Bahadur Manger, apprehended one Pranay Rai, aged 33 years, S/o Udai Man Rai, R/o Lower Martam, at 32 Number near the Bridge while he was traveling towards Gangtok on a scooty bearing registration number WB 74 BU 4493.

Upon search, 20 black-colored pouches containing a brown-colored substance suspected to be brown sugar, weighing approximately 20 grams, were recovered from his backpack.

The contraband was seized, packed, and sealed on the spot in the presence of independent witnesses. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.

Namchi District Police, in a bid to fight against drugs has caught a drug haul from the house and vehicle of a known peddler Mangal Singh S***a at Ravangla today. Acting upon a tip off, a raid at his residence followed by a thorough search of his taxi vehicle was conducted which led to the recovery of banned substance like suspected heroine and Windlas Spasmo capsules. Subsequently, a criminal case under relevant provisions of NDPS, Act 1985 and SADA 2006 has been registered at Ravangla Police Station.

Massive Drug Bust in Jorethang: One Taken Into Custody

In a decisive crackdown against narcotics, Jorethang Police apprehended a man from the Masjid Line locality following actionable intelligence. The individual, identified as Mogle Azam, was found in possession of a significant cache of suspected illegal substances.

Among the confiscated items were numerous blue-colored capsules and several bottles of codeine-laced cough syrup, all classified as prohibited under prevailing drug control laws. Authorities have registered a case under the stringent provisions of the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

On a credible source information, a substantial amount of illicit substances was seized during a recent operation conducted by Temi PS at Ben Dumra, Manglay, Dist- Namchi , from the house of Dil Kumar Kami @ Dillay , 37 years r/o Ben Dumra, Ben Namprik GPU, Dist-Namchi . Case under NDPS is registered against him.
This operation is a significant part of Namchi District's ongoing efforts to combat drug menace.

Melli | Police Nabs Drug Peddler with Brown Sugar Hidden in Boot

Namchi, May 14 : In a significant development under the ongoing anti-narcotics drive, Namchi District Police made a crucial arrest, seizing a substantial quantity of suspected contraband from a suspect attempting to enter the state.

On May 14, Melli Police apprehended Bikash Chettri, 37, a resident of Geyzing, West Sikkim, while he was trying to cross into the state on foot.
Acting on specific intelligence, the police conducted a search in the presence of a Gazetted Officer and independent witnesses.

The search led to the recovery of 42.97 grams of suspected brown sugar, which was cleverly concealed inside the right boot worn by the accused.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and the accused has been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway to identify the broader network involved.

Today with information received at Namchi District Helpline no. One Suman Rai, r/o Dalep Kewzing was intercepted at Archery Road wherein 18 pouches of Heroine was recovered from his possession. Further, proceeds of sale amounting to Rs. 19,750/- was also recovered. The vehicle belonging to the accused person which he uses to ferry drugs has also been seized.
Case registered under relevant section of NDPS Act and Bharatiya Nayay Sanhita(Organised Crime relating to drugs).

Melli Police Nab Drug Offender in Precision Operation

Swift coordination leads to seizure of contraband and arrest in South Sikkim

Namchi, May 13 – In a significant achievement in the ongoing crackdown against narcotics, Melli Police Station of Namchi District, with vital support from the Anti-Drugs Squad (ADS) Melli, successfully apprehended an individual involved in illegal drug activities during a targeted operation.

Based on actionable intelligence, the police team raided the residence of Roshan Chettri, a resident of Chalisey in Melli, South Sikkim. The operation led to the seizure of a considerable quantity of banned substances from his possession. The suspect was immediately taken into custody.

A case has been formally registered against Chettri under relevant provisions of the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act, 2006. Authorities confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace the broader network behind the illegal trade and identify potential accomplices or suppliers.
