Student Protest or Something Else? – A Question Every Citizen Should Ask
I respect the democratic right of every student and every citizen to protest peacefully. Peaceful protest is one of the strengths of our democracy, and every genuine concern deserves to be heard.
However, I am deeply concerned whenever any protest turns violent. If there is stone-pelting, damage to public property, or attacks on police personnel, it raises an important question: does violence help the cause of better education, or does it weaken it?
I also have a question for everyone to think about:
Has any student ever thrown stones at their own father, mother, brother, sister, or another family member if they happened to be serving in the Delhi Police? The police personnel standing on duty are also someone's parents, children, brothers, and sisters. They deserve dignity just as protesters do.
Another question that comes to my mind is this:
Is this truly a student movement focused on improving education, or is it becoming something much larger and more political? Every citizen should think carefully and examine the facts before reaching a conclusion.
I believe that students should lead with knowledge, discipline, and constructive dialogue. The government should listen to genuine concerns, and law enforcement should carry out its duties professionally and with restraint. At the same time, protesters should remain peaceful and avoid actions that put lives or public safety at risk.
Let us support education, democracy, and peace—not violence.
This is my personal opinion. I respect everyone's right to hold a different view, and I encourage respectful discussion based on facts.
