Todhey Thuindup Kyidu Samaj Celebrates Annual Picnic on the Pious Occasion of Tibiten Losar, New Year 2026

Barmiok Todhey, 18th February: In a joyous blend of tradition and community spirit, on the auspicious occasion of Tibetan Losar, the Todhey Thuindup Kyidu Samaj successfully organized its annual picnic to mark the end of the year and the beginning of a new one.

The celebration was graced by Barmiok Elika Guardian as the senior Chief Patron, Yap. Thinley Namgyal Densapa, who attended as the chief guest.

Yap La, was accompanied by Advisor cm social worker Mrs. Diki Lhamu Kazini (Bermiok 11th Mile, Chumla). They were joined by former TTK president Shri N.T. Bhutia, ward Panchayat Shri Tashi Tshering Bhutia, and other senior distinguished guests of the Samaj.

This annual picnic underscores the importance of connecting Kyidu Samaj members across generations, fostering relationships between seniors, children, and youths to celebrate lasting bonds with messages of oneness and unity. Traditionally held at the end and beginning of the year during January, this year's event was postponed in solidarity with the community's senior members and rescheduled to coincide with Tibetan Losar.

The main attractions included sports activities for various age groups, talent performances, a captivating solo dance by Bisnu Tamang, prize distributions, traditional cuisines, beverages, and more.

It is with profound respect and deep appreciation that we acknowledge the Honourable Party President of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) for recognizing and honouring individuals who have contributed immensely to the party’s success through unwavering commitment and dedication from a very young age, guided by the party’s vision, principles, and leadership.

One such inspiring youth is Mr. Govind Poudyal, a resident of Temi under 14-Temi Namphing Constituency, who has recently been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim. Having worked closely with him over the years, we can confidently state that his clarity of vision, dedication, and progressive outlook have consistently stood out, making him a source of inspiration for many.

Mr. Poudyal has selflessly served the SKM party since 2009, working tirelessly behind the scenes without seeking recognition for his personal sacrifices. His relentless efforts and commitment have now been rightfully acknowledged by the party’s visionary leadership, which remains accountable and sincere towards its dedicated Karyakartas.

On behalf of the TNC, we extend our sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) ji, for his exemplary leadership in identifying and empowering true gems of the party individuals who serve as beacons of hope for the future welfare of Sikkim and its people.

The final tournament match of the Inter Sikkim T-20 Cricket Tournament 2026, organized by Bermiok Cricket Club, Namchi.

Bermiok Tokal, 26th Jan:The tournament was gracefully attended by the OSD to Youths and Sports Department, Shri Govind Poudyal, as the Chief Guest. He was accompanied by OSD to HMLA, Shri Pradeep Tamang.

They were joined by Zilla Panchayat Shri Madan Kr. Bajgai, Panchayat President Smt. Sanki Bhutia, Zilla Panchayat Namchi Shri Passang Lepcha, Chalamthang Panchayat Shri Shiva Kr. Biswakarma, the principal of the school Shri Bhim Shamser Chettri, Convener Shri Santosh Acharya, Coordinator NHPC Karma Choda Bhutia, Contractor Shri Topgay Bhutia, Contractor Shri Mani Kr. Tamang, Former Panchayat Shri Bikash Bajgai, Contractor Shri Dhiren Bhujel, Mankind Coordinator Shri Rajiv S***a, Contractor Shri Khush Narayan Sharma, Contractor Shri Phurba Tamang, Contractor Shri Sanjay Pradhan, Nari Coordinator Smt. Minto Choden Bhutia, cricket officials, committee members, and cricket lovers from the gallery.

Earlier, the Chief Guest and guests were warmly welcomed with khadas by the President of BCC, Shri Karma G. Bhutia. Thereafter, the match officials conducted the toss for the tournament match between the two captains of the teams: Phongla Veterans vs. Black Guns.

At the onset, the well-wishers, supporters, and committee members congratulated the newly appointed OSD to Sports & Youths Affairs, Shri Govind Poudyal, in his deserving position and commitment to his new responsibilities. We wish him the very best for a successful tenure and hope his leadership will help many young athletes from rural Sikkim achieve opportunities and support.

Meanwhile, the Chief Guest offered khadas and best wishes to both teams of the final tournament, held at the premises of the BTSSS playground.
