Bermiok Namphing Veterans Lift Trophy in One-Day Exhibition Match on National Sports Day 2026 at Mangley
Simchuthang Mangley, 29th August: A thrilling Veterans’ Exhibition Football Match was organized today by the 3rd Battalion of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBn) Mangley at the premises playground in Simchuthang, South Sikkim. The event was held to commemorate National Sports Celebration Day 2026, observed under the nationwide theme "Khelega Bharat, Jeetega Bharat".
The exhibition match was played between the Bermiok Namphing Veterans and the IRBn Mangley Veterans. In this spectacular one-day football match, the Bermiok Namphing Veterans emerged victorious, winning 3–2 goals.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Guest, Commandant Officer of IRBn Mangley, Miss Linda Palmo Bhutia (SPS), graced the event to encourage and inspire everyone in the field of sports, while promoting the message of a healthy lifestyle, especially for young athletes.
Speaking on the occasion, she appreciated the initiative and selfless contribution of all the volunteers who worked zealously to organize this grand event. She also spoke about the importance of leading a healthy life through sports and other activities, which she believes will contribute to the upliftment of society. Furthermore, she assured the gathering of her vision to bring various developmental projects to the IRBn compound, which will definitely improve accessibility and infrastructure within the premises.
At the end of the event, prizes and trophies were distributed to the winners and runners-up. The program also featured vibrant cultural performances by many talented members of the IRBn.
