Voilence Breaks Out In Fresh Bangladesh Protesters

At least a dozen people were reported injured in clashes between police and Islamist demonstrators in Bangladesh on Sunday, the third day of protests against the visit of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Five people died on Friday, and another six the next day, after police shot at demonstrators in several major districts across the Muslim-majority nation of 168 million people.

The protesters -- mostly from the hardline Islamist group Hefazat-e-Islam -- were angry at the visit of Modi as Bangladesh marked 50 years of independence, accusing him of stoking communal violence against Muslims in his country.Bangladesh braces for violence after deadly anti-Modi protests

At one new protest in Narayanganj just outside the capital Dhaka, Hefazat supporters chanted "action, action, direct action" as they blocked the key highway linking Dhaka with the port city of Chittagong.

Hundreds of demonstrators burnt furniture and tyres on the roads as they chanted anti-Modi slogans and called on authorities to investigate the shootings.

Police fired tear gas and rubber bullets after the protesters barricaded parts of the highway. A police spokesman told AFP they had since left the road.

Prothom Alo, the country's biggest Bengali-language daily, said at least 15 people were injured in the Narayanganj clashes.

Amid PM Modi's visit, Facebook services restricted in Bangladesh

Hefazat spokesman Jakaria Noman Foyezi told AFP thousands of its supporters joined demonstrations at its headquarters at Hathazari outside Chittagong, which is home to a top Islamic seminary.

The Islamist group has a nationwide network, and it has held large protests in the past demanding that Bangladesh introduce blasphemy laws.

Protests were also held in the northeastern city of Sylhet, the eastern district of Brahmanbaria and in Bosila, a Dhaka suburb, but there were no reports of violence, local media reported.

As Bangladesh celebrated independence, human rights groups criticised the government for what they described as growing authoritarianism, including forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.

Other groups -- including students, leftists and other Islamist outfits -- had also staged protests against Modi's visit on Friday and Saturday.

1 Dead , Six Injured In Stabbing At Canadian Librarian

A man went on a stabbing spree inside and around a library, killing one woman and injuring six other people in North Vancouver, British Columbia, authorities said.

Sgt Frank Jang of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said a suspect was in custody. He said the man is in his 20s and has had interactions with police in the past.

Jang said officials didn't have any information yet about a motive.

On Twitter, Canadian Public Safety Minister Bill Blair expressed shock and sadness over the incident, calling it a 'senseless act of violence.

One witness, Steve Mossop, said he and his partner stopped in traffic when they saw a bloodied woman who told them she had just been stabbed.

They then saw several victims within about 100 meters of each other, he said.

'There was a man, there was an older woman, there was a younger woman, a mom — a random group of individuals in the wrong place at the wrong time," Mossop said.

"It seemed like he was just running in a direction, whoever was in his path happened to be victimized,? Mossop said of the attacker.

Mumbai:17 year's old video helps man get bail in posco act

The special court under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act granted bail to a 27-year-old man booked for sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl after considering the video of the minor where she claimed she was forced to implicate him at the insistence of her mother and stepfather.
The teenager had recorded a video before lodging a complaint with Dongri police station, stating that her stepfather used to harass her, but her mother did not believe her. She further alleged that her mother made her consume drugs and also forced her to harass the accused.

The accused and the teen lived in the same locality and had a physical relationship.

It was alleged that the accused was a drug addict and that, without his knowledge, the girl started to steal drugs and consume them. The prosecution alleged that the mother sent her to a rehabilitation centre. After returning, she fled from her house twice and the second time went to the accused. However, the accused left her near her house, following she recorded the video. The accused was booked on October 2 and arrested the next day.

Before lodging the case, the minor had sent the accused a video but he could not access it till recently.

Man had no idea that knife was stucked in his chest for over a year after getting stabbed

A man didn't know that he had a knife stuck in his chest for more than a year after getting stabbed while walking home. Kent Ryan Tomao, 36, was attacked in Kidapawan city in the Philippines when he was returning from work in January last year. He got to know about the knife only recently when he went for a health check for his new job.
Kent on Tuesday discovered that the knife was lodged next to his rib cage inches away from piercing his lungs. He now claims that the doctors who treated him last year just sewed his wound, leaving the four-inch-long knife in his body.

He is demanding the doctors who missed the knife remove it so that he can start his new job as a miner.

"The doctors did not check my wounds properly last year so I believe they are partly at fault about what happened. They should fix this," he was quoted as saying by LADbible.

Kent claims that his wounds were stitched and he was given painkillers after which he was asked to go home.

Fourteen months later, in his pre-employment medical test, it was found that the knife was still stuck in his rib cage.

Kent said that his chest has hurt sometimes during the cold weather, however, he never thought it to be a serious problem.

He said, "I always wondered why I felt pain in my chest when the weather was cold. But I had no idea there is a knife in my chest. The pain was never bad enough to even go to see a doctor. I just waited for the pain to pass. Now I'm relieved that I know the real problem."

Kent will have to undergo surgery to get the knife removed, however, he doesn't have the money for it.

He said, "I can't start working until I remove this knife but without a job, I will not have money to pay for my medical needs."

He will return to the hospital next month to ask the doctors to fix it. "I will not press charges, I just want them to remove the knife so I can start working in my new company," he added.
